  • Evening all,

£1.50 spend in the labs of ice today on sandwich fillings for the week.

Hoping the next few days will be NSDs as we have quite a lot in at the moment and it's too windy and cold at the moment to go out to the shops in my lunch hour.

Will make sure I keep checking in over the course of the month.

Hope you all have a fab evening :)

    Evening all :)

A NSD day for us here today .... :)

Dinner was ys pork joint basted in lemon, garlic and herbs ... rather yummy, with jacket spud, carrots & cabbage.

Aiming to go shopping tomorrow night after I've tried out a new gym. I really do need to get motivated on that front!!

Adding in my spends for the week. Spent 66.46 in Mr t. I had a £12 off a £80 spend so that helped! Stocked up on meat, washing powder and crisps! (£12 on three boxes of crisps- but they will last months and if means we have walkers for roughly the same price as aldi ones!- hubby will be pleased!) it makes him feel like he is is having a little treat when I buy him walkers- little does he know that I only get them when the are ridiculously cheap!

Also spent £22.93 in aldi on the 'weekly shop!! I.e. Milk, fruit, veg, cereal etc. also bought two lots of cal pol and two lots of kiddie toothpaste. Cheaper than I can get anywhere else although it did add an extra fiver to the bill!

So £90.39 to add to my signature. Technically these were bought in January but as it is my first month I thought I should include it in February as the food is pretty much all for feb anyway. And it would skew my February total quite considerably.

Meatballs for tea! Quick and easy!

Little tip from me for anyone that doesn't know-

Mr t- does a 3 for £10 meat offer. IF you can get three of these packs in the YS section, you will get them for the reduced price and you get an extra £2 off at the till!
So last week I got 3 packs of diced beef for £2.50 each instead of the usual £4 each. So £7.50 plus an extra £2 off at the till so got three packs for £5.50. Bargain! It also works on the silver tray items that are on multi buy but not the meal deal (pizza etc). (I tried that one the other day!)

    Hth!

  • Tomorrow brings me to the end of my second week and I have £15.32 left in grocery purse.

Lid! = £4.12 (eggs, bread and fresh veg)
Mr T = £5.87 (5kg bag of rice, tuna, mustard, salt, food bags)
Sainsers = £24.69 (frozen/tinned and fresh f&v, baking supplies, butter & cheeses and a treat = ginger cordial)

In an attempt to cut down on my food wastage I decided to buy more tinned and frozen f&v in particular:-

Frozen whole green beans - whether my taste has changed or the freezing process has improved in the past 25 years but I was very happy with them steamed/boiled as a side veg and added into a curry/stew - no more mouldy green/brownish beans in the bottom of my fridge :j.

Basic tinned grapefruit - really good price but they are in a light syrup and a bit sweet/calorific for my taste, I may just have to pay out for fresh or stick with frozen raspberries instead.

Tinned potatoes - I've not tried them yet but notice that loads of people use them, it is a large tin for a single person just wonder how long they will keep in the fridge once opened.
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Sept Grocery spends = £304.88
    Oct - Grocery spends = £ 31.01

I keep a few tins of potato's in my store cupboard for a 'just in case' scenario :) But I do find they keep quite well if taken out of the tin and put in a covered bowl in the fridge. I live alone so often a tin is too much just for me for one day, left overs go nice in soup, stews or even cubed into HM curries

But then if I open a tin of beans I will only eat half and the other half goes in the fridge in a plastic lidded take-away box and keeps pretty well as well

2nd NSD today and nothing on my shopping list as yet that I keep by the kettle in the kitchen I try to only shop when I have at least 10 things to buy,and will make-do with alternatives if I can, rather than popping out to onlly get a couple of things, as that leads down the road to over=spending :):):)

Only 27 more days to go chums 'til the end of the month so keep a tight hold of your pennies
