I'm sticking to £200 for February. We were under budget last month but there was quite a bit of food from Christmas to use up.
  • Can I please stay in at £250 for February

I will look to reduce this next month, but I am still getting to grips with cutting back on unnecessary spending, and reducing the sheer number of times I seem to go to the supermarket.

Thanks for running for us :j

In again at £360 this month - so far one big shop at Sainsbobs, which was OK as I have pasta and rice in already - oh dear forgot to add the £16 at butchers to my total!! Off to chaotic start just for a change!

Good luck everyone. Our nearest cafe to work has closed so hoping to save some ££ by taking packed lunches, but I suffer from boredom when I know what I have for lunch at 9am (anyone else get that problem?)

This week I'm planning to do home-made savoury rice as the family love the Uncle B packs but they're a bit pricey...

  • So I've just been to sort out the outside freezer - I do have a system of 'made meals', 'raw ingredients' etc in various bags as it's a chest one & very easy to 'lose' stuff in it - but it's very easy to just stick something in the top when coming back from shopping & forgetting to put it in the right place! :o

Anyway, there are 30 meals ready to eat :D which is great as I'm not good at cooking during the week (mix of health reasons / work etc) so I do try to bulk cook at weekends so I can have something 'proper' - rather than a packet of biccies (yup, it has been known!)

I also have plenty of meat - a few chicken breasts and a couple of pulled pork joints (which have been on offer at Asda if anyone's after one) - they're fantastic done in the SC and really cheap. I've bought 2 around the £4.50 mark and each one has been cut in 1/2 with 1 bit being cooked & 1 frozen.

So, off to a good start and hopefully that should mean I don't need to spend much this month & recoup some of the stock up items bought in Jan.

Thank goodness. Have not risked going shopping I am sure a few hundred would fall into my car!! Lacking restraint at the moment.

  • I've done the GC a few times in the past, but tend not to now as I've generally pretty happy with how much I spend each month (anywhere between £130 - 200, depending on how many mouths expect to be fed).

However, this month I've got a couple of extra bills due to the dog having to go in kennels twice, and work have made a right dog's dinner of my pay, meaning I'm going to have to be super careful with the pennies. As such, can you put me down for £80 for February, starting today and going through to the 29th.
