I ended up going on the trip today - the little one I was with is known to be quite challenging but was a little star. It was quite entertaining. There was a model of a man from Egyptian times and they had to get it ready for mummification. One child was chosen to pull the brains out with a hook through the models nose - you can imagine the roars/ groans as red stuffing came out with the hook - then they pulled intestines, liver and lungs out and took turns to wrap bandages around the model. It was very well thought out and the children will remember it for a long time. I do like my job. Only problem was we were very late back as the traffic was horrendous and a coach full of noisy children in a bus for an hour and a half isn’t the most relaxing.
I really enjoyed White Christmas last night. It was at a restored Art Deco cinema/theatre, they play pathe news reels that fit in with the era of the film. An organist rises from the pits and plays then waves as he goes back into the pits and there’s old fashioned ice cream ushers. It’s quite quaint and is run by volunteers along with the staff. It’s been used in lots of tv shows. I thought I’d seen White Christmas in the past but it wasn’t the film I expected and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before - other than a clip of them singing White Christmas- it felt a little too early for Christmas films though....would have felt better in December. The lady we took thoroughly enjoyed it and was singing along and telling me tales of the variety shows she used to was there in her younger days but bless her she has no idea of recent memories.
Spent £10 last night buying drinks as friend bought me the ticket and £15 in Morrisons tonight other than I’ve not spent anything since last weekend :money:
I need to clean my fridge/freezer tomorrow morning then hopefully go to big market a tram ride away to stock up.January spends - £587.580 -
I cleaned the freezer part of my fridge and headed to the big market a tram ride away. I love going there as a couple of the stall holders shout out the prices and packs of meat they are selling - a good atmosphere. Anyway both myself and dh had taken a rucksack to carry the meat in - we filled them - I was struggling carrying mine one handed (and I had the smaller one ) sooooo.......I ended up buying a granny basket on wheels :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: so we’ve chuckled all day - dh has his free bus pass, pension and now a granny basket to go with them - but it certainly made life easier. I bought a couple of big meat packs, a whole salmon, gorgeous artisan sausages, farmhouse cheeses and some lovely veg. So I’m well and truly stocked up. It took me over an hour to portion it all for the freezer - it’ll last ages. It was so much cheaper than the supermarket. So tomorrow we’re having a bit of a cooking session - bolognaise, chilli, curry, lamb and chickpeas all ready to portion up. I’m going to put a tenner a week away and save up to go again when this lot has gone.
I’ve had another appointment for the hospital, this time for a pre-op which falls right in the middle of February half term. I was hoping to see dd and gks then so I think I’m going to ask them to change it. It also says it’s only valid for 6-12 weeks - so if what the secretary said was right about a 9 month waiting list - it doesn’t seem to add up...January spends - £587.580 -

The market trip was very good for you, loving the granny basket bit it will be useful if you again. I can't understand the hospital either, I don't think they speak to each other .

Can I suggest that you ask for an explanation about the timing of appointment versus op? Our health trust only allows you 2 changes and then you're back to the end of the list. If it's something they have to do, then it doesn't count as one of your two changes.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Lovely to see you seaside gal 58 - you’re more than welcome to pop in any time. Must have sent you off to sleep reading it in one go
I phoned the hospital today after work and spoke to a lovely fella who has changed the appointment to the following week for me. I told him the secretary had said a 9 month waiting list and asked if it would be better to leave it a while. Anyway he said it needs to be about that time (end of Feb) as they are giving my surgeon extra theatre sessions and also employing a new surgeon - so although the secretary gave a worst case scenario it will probably be much sooner so I need to be ready for the op. Which is fair enough I suppose.....it’s getting a bit scary and real now..... I’m hoping for it to be as close to May as possible as I’ll have been back at work a year by then and built my sick pay allowance back again. But I know I’ll have to have it when they say or I’ll end up going back to GP as INOD says.
Yesterday we did some cooking which is now eaten or packed in the freezer. DS called around and we walked along the river to a local pub where ds treated us to a drink whilst meat was in the oven...we walked home via the roads as it gets quite dark on the riverbank then had the most delicious lamb and chickpea thanks th Jamie Oliver’s 5 ingredient book....it was very SW friendly too.
I’m being very adventurous tonight and having kedgeree - dh is making it from some smoked haddock we bought on Saturday- but I don’t usually do fish that doesn’t come in fingers or is salmon...and I’m just beginning to eat mild curry....I haven’t quite got my head around fish and curry together.....I’ll report back later.January spends - £587.580 -
Oooh havent had kedgerree in years.
Hope that you enjoyed.

I'm like you with fish - no skin, no bones, no heads, no tails, no grey bits, not too fishy tasting
If it's skinless, boneless and frozen in a bag from Iceland that's fine by me
I don't eat meat and am so close to being 100% vegetarian.
The meat sounded a bargain though, Mr SA loves his meat.
Hope you get the hospital appointment sorted, best to get it done sooner than later.
Get you succumbing to the granny basket - I am tempted for my Aldi trips to be honestI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Another one who hasn't had kedgeree for years! Don't know why because I really like it. And I've never cooked it either!
I agree with SA about the granny basket - I had one when I first got married years ago! Nowadays I get the bulk of my shopping monthly online, but as I don't drive I'm thinking of investing in a granny basket for my weekly top up shops at Aldi! Much easier pulling one of those than carrying a heavy bag! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
