Well I think the jam is a success…..it smells delicious but it’s still too hot to taste properly - the dribbles that are cold are pretty good. I had forgotten how easy it is to make. The only trouble was I struggled for jars as it wasn’t really a planned activity - so the jam is in the big coffee jars with a glass lid that has a plastic seal and I couldn’t sterilise the plastic bits in the oven. I’ve given it a good wash in hot soapy water and dried it well and also put baking parchment on the jam so I’m hoping it’ll be ok. it’s cost £3 for 2 big jars and 2 tiny jars….as all the fruit was free. 😁👍
I need to make a birthday card tomorrow.
RS I’d never been to there before - it’s just beautiful 👍
Did you see the seals by the drinking dinosaur?

RS Drinking dinosaur? We walked down the path by the lighthouse and walked to the hut that must be something to do with bird monitoring and we counted at least 12 just basking in the sun. Then we walked back to the benches in front of the cafe and ate our sandwiches 😁

Mmmmm think I boiled the jam a bit too much. It’s thicker than I wanted 😏 Still not bad for my first time in 50 years 😉

You must have missed him. Just down the coast path from where you were.

There were about 30 seals basking on the beach when we went.

Wow I can see where he gets his name - drinking dinosaur 😁 My foot has been giving me so much agro we walked the bare minimum and on real paths as much as possible. Hopefully we’ll get to see that next time we go as we will definitely go back.

I’ve just been doing some number crunching. My silly spends on nothingness has crept up again. I spent £80 on ice creams for 2 of us whilst we were away for less than a week 😳 I dread to think how much Dh as he paid for most of the things we had……he doesn’t budget as such……he knows how much has to go out on bills and as long as he doesn’t go into that amount he is a happy man and will get whatever we want as long as he can afford it. Don’t think he has ever been overdrawn……I don’t know how I managed to keep my debts to myself for all those years…..not a secret as such. If he’d have asked I’d have told him, but I wanted to get myself out of the mess I’d got myself into…..had it become unmanageable I’d have asked him for help….and I know he’d have helped without question. I’m so pleased I managed it myself though. A silly pride thing 😉
Credit card is paid in full…..the total for the month had crept up to just within my budget….but some of that was just unnecessary. Coffees are creeping back in when I swim….once in a while is fine but it was getting a bit too regular. At least I’ve recognised the error of my ways again 👍
Right off to tackle the ironing- I’ve just had a lovely peaceful hour with no tv and no radio. I usually always have background noise but I enjoyed the quiet whilst number crunching.

So glad you had a wonderful time - and lovely to catch the Reds displaying too!

On the spending thing - that's exactly the trick isn't it, and having a budget means you can pick up on when things start to creep to a level they shouldn't or can't be at, and you can rein in accordingly.

Beanie we had a couple of coffees too in that £80……and they weren’t served in golden cups. We commented how big the ice creams come as standard though and no option for a small one 😳 (I could have asked for less but the same price 😂😂😂 the MSE in me wouldn’t let me do that 😳😏😂)No wonder people are putting weight on……every place we went to were virtually 2 scoops as standard 😳😳 We could have taken flasks of coffee but to be honest the thought of carrying things in the heat was just a no no. We both needed more rests than we used and it was usually near an ice cream shop. Dh had a slight shock when he put his trusty old shorts on…..he’s had them years as he only wears them in extreme heat on holiday…..all the ice creams and pies had taken their toll 😂😂😂😂 This break gave us both a wake up call 😂😂😂 In fact I’d taken a photo in the model village with Dh in the background….when looking back at it  I’d wondered why I’d taken a photo with a rotund gent with white hair in it….it took me back when I realised it was Dh 😂😂😂 I didn’t mention this to Dh 😂😂😂😂😂
I did the ironing yesterday….not much but I’d have got away with it had I tumble dried……wonder what the difference in electricity is between tumble drying and ironing ???
I’m just going to the gym to do my little circuit then I’m getting my craft stuff down and having a card making session 👍😁
Tea is from the freezer…..meat balls and a veg sauce and I’ll cook some pasta to go with it. I’m determined to keep my spends within my budget for the month 👍
