OBL I’d wondered if you were near to where we stayed overnight. We had a lovely walk at Exmouth, saw a beautiful sunset. You are so lucky living in a beautiful part of the country. They have done a lot of development since we were last there over 20 years ago. We stayed at a pub in Lynmouth - a Toby carvery. Had a lovely evening meal and breakfast in return for them letting us sleep on their carpark 😁 it was quite surreal as it was dark but with the bright carpark lights the birds were singing their little heads off……confused by the brightness 😏January spends - £587.581

OBL we have stayed or stopped at Exeter many times in the past. Ds still has a key ring he bought from the first place we’d ever seen that made items from welded, used metal bits. He has a spider made from nails and a bolt……he was fascinated as we’d never seen anything like it. He bought it from a little craft shop by the riverfront when he was about 10……he’s in his 40s now and still uses it all the time. Think he’s had his money’s worth 😂😂January spends - £587.582

We met ds yesterday and went for a walk. I’d intending making a Persian chicken dish but were back later than planned. Ds bought a takeaway for himself and Dh and I decided to be good and have chicken and pasta I had in the fridge instead 😇
This morning I went to the U3A singing group - the songs seemed much more melancholy than usual though.I’ve taken some things from the freezer so will make the most of the oven being on. I’ve decided to make chicken with fennel, meat and potato pie with butter beans, mince pork and cider cobbler…..although I’ll make the cobbler bit at a later date. I’ll portion and freeze whatever isn’t eaten in the next couple of days. It’s a long time since I’ve done any mass cooking. If there is room in the oven I might get around to making some flapjack.January spends - £587.581 -
Oh yum Milann, that lot sounds tasty! I love Fennel - just occasionally it pops up in our veg box and we're always delighted to see it!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

The chicken and fennel was delicious- 5 portions in the freezer 😁 and a chicken breast in the fridge for sandwiches 👍
Stew ready made for tonight and what’s left can be portioned up and frozen 👍 The cobbler didn’t get made as I hadn’t realised we didn’t have any cider so I made meatballs instead…..they’re already frozen ready for some sort of sauce. I didn’t have room for flapjack in the oven. I haven’t cooked like this for a long time. I quite enjoyed myself 😁I decided to walk to the optician this morning - mistake 😏 I was shattered by the time I got home…..I did have a mooch around town though. I treated myself to a sandwich on the market……75p for a mug of tea in a China cup and £1.80 for a freshly made sandwich. It was very nice 😁 I bought a little birthday present for a little one I used to work with…..some children’s make up 😂😂😂 She is so funny 😂😂😂
I had an unexpected spend as I needed a change of clothes…..less said about that the better 😳😏. At least I was near a cheapish shop and somewhere I could get changed…£15 spent.
I pick my new specs up next week £185…..I can claim £100 back I think, I haven’t checked how much you can claim back on optical…..might be more now. I can also put a claim in for when I was in for a day case - so most of the cost will be covered.January spends - £587.580
