I loved the gardens especially a stream and waterfall. Think we will join next spring and visit in the different seasons. From the gardens we headed to the big shopping mall and had a mooch around then planned on using the Zizzi vouchers. We headed to the restaurant- it looked empty but we were greeted by a very apologetic waitress who explained that due to staff shortages they were not taking walk ins 😵💫 The other restaurants in the mall looked empty and not taking people in or had a long queue of people waiting. We decided to get in the car and head to W-spoons nearer home. As we got int he car I remembered a spoons I’d passed during a ride out in lockdown and we could pass it on our way home if we didn’t go on the motorway. So off we went…..then…..we hit a massive traffic jam and roads were closed in all directions. We thought something major had happened as there were several ambulances in the distance. Then as we got closer realised the mayhem was because of the Manchester Marathon…..which just happened to be exactly where we were heading 😳😳This was 7pm at night and some poor looking souls were still hobbling along. We did eventually get to where we were heading - scenic route wasn’t in it 😂😂😂😂 And the lovely looking Wetherspoon that had fairy lights and stained glass windows outside was the biggest letdown - it was like an old mans drinking pub inside……nobody was eating except us. But it was a case of we’ve travelled out of our way to get here so here we will jolly well stay 😂😂😂Another NSD in Milanland - making it 4/15January spends - £587.583

Happy belated birthday milann!🍾🎂🍾🎂. Also glad to read you spent some lovely time with your DD - just the two of you. 💕
The Wspoons sounded a bit of a disappointment- I haven't been to one in quite a while but they were always buzzy. Good going on the NSDs. 👍Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

My diary: “Seasidegal's Scrimpy Retirement Diary!”1 -
It’s 4 years this week since I was in hospital with a spinal bleed that they thought was caused by a tumour in my spine. I was transferred from my local hospital by ambulance to a hospital that specialises in spinal surgery and fully expected to have surgery within a couple of days. Thankfully it was ‘just’ a bleed which dissipated to show there wasn’t a tumour after all…and they left it to sort itself...but they didn’t know if I’d ever regain use of my leg which was paralysed from just above my knee…..thankfully I did get use of it again….although I’ve got a couple of numbish areas….it’s been quite a few years with one thing or another.I’ve been a bit in limbo since the retirement came through. I’ve got lots of things I can do but so much time - nothing is actually getting done. I need a plan……I’m playing with the idea of volunteering at somewhere I used to work……but with covid I’m not sure they still do what they used to with volunteers…..might have to make some enquiries.
Right I really do need to finish a birthday card for my dd and get it in the post for her birthday tomorrow.January spends - £587.582 -

You’ve really been through the mill over the past few years. Hopefully that’s it now 🤞I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

How frightening for you Milann I hope you have better health now0

Thanks folks - it was scary at the time. If I was a cat I’d be getting through my 9 lives very quickly. Enough wallowing though - onwards and upwards 👍
I finished the birthday card…..didn’t turn out quite as I expected as the flower was bigger than imagined. I will post a photo in a few days. The post offices near me have all closed and the nearest one seems to open as and when they can get staff so I walked into town. I hadn’t intended looking around but coming home to tidy up…..I had a mooch and cleared my head a bit so no tidying has been done. £6 spent on coffee and biscuit and postage though. The heavens opened and im like a little drowned rat atm.Tomorrow I am meeting a friend for dinner…..I haven’t seen her properly for about 10 years but we always pick up where we left off 😄January spends - £587.580 -
£6 well spent!Celebrate how strong you have been, you deserve a coffee and a biscuit ☕️🧁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

WW thankyou. The spinal bleed led to a broken elbow as I was walking to build my strength up once I got the feeling and use back and off crutches….about 6 months after the bleed….my leg suddenly gave way, I put my arm out to save myself and shattered my elbow. It was my 1st full week back at work 😳 They operated to remove the chippings but it retracted when healing which eventually led to an elbow and membrane replacement and wrist realignment….I’d only been back at work a matter of months after this and half of that I was off during lockdown when my tummy decided to perforate again…..mmmmmm…..I can understand why work were pushing for me to take retirement. Need to put it behind me and start planning some nice things 😀😀January spends - £587.581
