Milann's life keeps getting in the way.......

A beautiful sunny day ☀️ My ideal temperature. I’ve pottered around the garden. I’ve finally put the plants I bought a few weeks ago into the ground. We ended up bringing some railway building in so that they don’t get wrecked as the paving is being levelled. I can feel a painting job emerging....
The fencing man was going great guns then he knocked on the door 😳 there is a big drainage pipe right near the house, which sticks out about 3 feet. We are a couple of foot lower than next door and we need concrete panels between us to keep there soil in there garden.....you can’t put concrete there because today the pipe. Every blooming job creates problems. Anyway next door is a carpenter so he things with a bit of thought he can attach the fence around the drainpipe. So we are having a conflab with the fence man tomorrow.January spends - £587.581 -

The outcome of the conflab with the fence man is we’re putting a new bit of drain in, which will be deeper down and the fence can still go where it is meant to be.....another £250.....the other option was a crooked fence which I don’t think I could live with. 😳😳
I’m not planning on doing a lot today as true to form I did too much yesterday and didn’t sleep last night as I ached everywhere. I feel so stiff this morning.January spends - £587.581 -
Glad you have found a solution to the fence and drain issue. There is always something, nothing is ever straight forward.
Hope your aching doesn't last too long today.2 -
Annnnd so it continues.....the fence man has moved from the front of the house to the side as he’s waiting for fencing to be delivered, which will be next week. He’s taken the flags up so that he can level them....only to find a different broken bit of drain.....this has had the new toilet drain we had put in last year attached. He called me out to see it and ask if we’d had any flushing problems- we hadn’t. When he disconnected it there was a massive piece of cloth in it. We can only assume when they were fitting the loo the put a piece of cloth to stop building muck- the idea is they take the cloth out......but this had been flushed down the loo. This would have caused major problems long term 😡😡😡😡 I’m going to get in touch with my original builder - I’m not impressed 😡😡😡😡January spends - £587.582

That has just reminded me about what happened when we moved into this new house.
We has been in the house for a few weeks when us and a few of the neighbours started having problems with the drains backing up. Turned out that our six houses were the first to be connected on a new branch of what will become adoptable sewer. Someone had forgotten to take out the bung connecting the new sewer to the existing sewers, so for three weeks all of our sewerage had been backing up in the pipes, we were amazed it had taken so long for the problem to become apparent.
Some poor soul had to go and pull the bung out2 -
There are some grotty jobs out there.....wouldn’t want to work unbunging drains 🤢🤢 This afternoon we popped into town to get cash for the builder and pick up a couple of things I want to take to dds when we go.
We've just been for an early evening stroll that was my favourite place to walk during lockdown. The little cafe was still open. I expected it to be shut, so we had an ice cream cornet.....she advertised them for £1 then asked if we wanted a flake and raspberry sauce......we said yes and it was still only £1 😀😀 A bit different to the £3.50 we paid a while back when we’d been on a different walk during lockdown. Then we had a drink in the beer garden of a pub nearby before walking home along the river.
I’d intended doing a bit more in the garden when I came in but I’m pooped....and I learned my lesson yesterday 👍

What a palaver on the blocked drain!😱. I'd be ringing the offending builder too. Just pure negligence.I hope your discount cornet with flake and sauce soothed you both! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I did indeed send photos of the offending drain to the last builder....who of course denied he had anything to do with it....but it hadn’t been there a long time as it wasn’t particularly smelly and there is only myself and dh here.....it’s the only explanation I can think of and curiously there is a sock in it which isn’t patterned like any of ours and it only services our house 🤔🤔
We had a lovely day yesterday - we set out to visit a seaside place an hour or so away - not a particularly popular one but the traffic was horrendous so we changed route and went to a town where the river which has its source in my home town reaches the sea. We parked a few miles out of town and walked in along the river - it was just lovely to be in the sunshine, people watching and boat spotting. We managed to get in to eat with no problem.....I was a tad disappointed as last time we ate there it was amazing but it was passable this time. Dh treated us 👍 There was a lovely vibe around the City but it felt a tad crowded at points. On the way back dh hired an electric scooter. 😂😂😂the plan was we both stood on it - as we’d seen various folk do. 😳😳😳 Not. A. Chance 😂😂😂😂 it wobbled and I just didn’t feel safe.....we were laughing so much it was a non starter.....So I sent dh and ds ahead to the car and they drove and picked me up part way along the route.
Todays plan is a thorough clean before we visit dd, sil and gks tomorrow 😀😀January spends - £587.584
