Well weβre back home after a lovely time with ds. It wasnβt the Christmas weβd planned like most people but we made the most of it. We had a zoom quiz on Christmas Eve then went over to ds on Christmas morning and zoomed dd to see gks with their presents. They were thrilled with the Sylvanian Families we sent via amaz@n ...they arrived Christmas Eve. Eldest Gk was a tad upset as sheβd bought us presents with her own money from school and wanted to give them to us. She was soon consoled when we told her weβd have a 2nd pretend Christmas next time we meet with presents and nice food and even a tree if they wanted. Iβve actually been quite touched that she cares more about the people than just getting presents. We went for a lovely walk along the canal near ds before dinner and fed the ducks some porridge oats. The canal was frozen in parts and it was bitter cold....then it started snowing....tiny flakes that didnβt stick but definitely snow βοΈ βοΈβοΈ We didnβt have dinner until nearly 5 oβclock. It was delicious and a very laid back affair. Then we had another zoom with dd and gdd. The little one was in bed so eldest thought it a real treat...she was up until nearly 9 which is very late for her. I didnβt sleep particularly well at ds as the bed is a lot firmer than my bed- Iβll be please to sleep in my own bed tonight. Then bacon butties this morning and weβve had a very lazy day as itβs been very wet all day.....weβve watched films all day. The buffet weβd planned was abandoned for a 2nd Christmas dinner....there was such a lot left yesterday we just reheated it and it was delicious all over again. Buffet food has been frozen until new year π
I phoned my friend who expected to spend the day on her own yesterday. She has been virtually shielding with just a couple of outings since March. Her hubby had a bad stroke a couple of years ago and is in a home. Sheβd refused invites from her family and various friends - anyway at the last minute she got together with another lady in similar circumstances to herself and they had dinner together. I was very pleased to hear this. I was upset to think of her alone at Christmas.ΒSo all in all Christmas was much better than I imagined it would be.January spends - Β£587.582 -
Iβm glad you had a lovely time. Weβve all had to make the most of it this year, just do what we can to muddle through. Thatβs a nice story about your friend πI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Lazy day. Late breakfast- Wallace and Gromit then later a Β cold turkey buffet which might need a trip to Morrisonβs as we didnβt buy any buffet food for here - thatβs the trouble when we buy for here and there π€π....the number of times Iβve either bought twice or thought Iβd bought things then realised itβs been for someone else ππππ Losing the plot ππJanuary spends - Β£587.582

Glad to hear you enjoyed Christmas with DS even though it wasn't how you expected to spend it. Great that you got to connect up with DD, SIL and the DGDs and am sure they will be over the moon when you see them again.ΒLife is an adventure, never stop exploring.2

Your Christmas sounded lovely and relaxed milann. π Let's hope and keep our fingers crossed that it won't be too long before we see our families that don't live locally to us. My DD has frozen most of the food she had bought when I was supposed to go to her for New Year. She said we can have it all when I manage to get there - we'll have presents to open too!ππFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 π

SSG thatβs what my dd has done - frozen a lot of it and asked the butcher to cut the joints in half so they could freeze half of everything.ΒI went around to Aldi yesterday and we bought some buffet bits - so yesterday was an afternoon/evening nibble of cold turkey, and lovely nibbly treats. I love this kind of day although I watched way too much tv......dd phoned to tell me the gc weβre watching The Sound of Music for the first time and were glued...and she said it brought memories of dd watching it with me....my favourite film of all time....brought a tear to my eye ππ Iβm going soft in my old age π€π Canβt beat a sing along to Doe a Deer, a turkey butty and little glass of Baileys π₯January spends - Β£587.583

Creeps in quietly, whispers Iβve never seen The Sound of Music, creeps back out again.
My mum had the soundtrack album though and played it a LOT (and sang along to it) when I was a kid.ΒI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3
