SSG I’m not convinced I’d want a cruise now.....’tin box of germs’ in my dhs words.
It’s typical though when the children were younger we couldn’t afford foreign holidays. Then we were going to have a special holiday for our 40th anniversary but hospital appointments paused things....we were ready to go just as all the virus kicked in.....it’s just not to be 🙄🙄

Thanks SSG....sometimes it feels as if the universe conspires 😂😂😂 But then conspires with good things.....didn’t think I’d be coming out of hospital but here I am 😄😂 - just got to be thankful for that 👍😄😄
gdd will be devastated as I think her school is shut. According to the news I’ve just watched London and south east schools are shutting. I haven’t spoken to dd yet....they’ll all be gutted as it’s hard working from home with little ones around.

I hate driving in anything less than perfect conditions!  My OH calls me Pingu when I'm trying to walk on ice!

Walking like a penguin is the safest way to avoid slipping on ice or snow,it's not fool proof but it works quite well so long as you don't mind looking a bit odd😂

I’ve actually got some pretty good clip ones to my shoes that I need to dig out. I think they’re in the boot of my car from a couple of years ago. Didn’t need them last year.  But I do look like a 90 year old penguin if I go out in the ice. I’m petrified of putting my arm out to safe myself if I slip and messing up the surgery I had

Just reads list of areas where schools are shut. I think gdd is ok. The area immediately next to them is shut though. I’ll have to speak to dd to find out for sure..

Baked a lemon drizzle cake this morning- smells delicious. Dh is cooking an Iranian dish that takes 2 packets of walnuts cooked for ages to render all the oils out of the nuts...it’s surprising how much there is - this is then added to chicken some pomegranate molasses and subtle spices. It’s very rich and very tasty - not something you could eat every day though. Ds is coming around so we’ll have an early tea and maybe some buffet bits later to see the new year in👍 I’m so pleased we can still keep the bubbles in tier 4 - I wasn’t sure so checked....phew 😏
My last fling food wise before I start being good again on Monday 👍👍
My friend who does all the dressmaking has sent me some patterns for tunic tops for me to have a go at....she has a lot of faith in me 😂😂😂😂 need some material now but non essential shops are shut. Don’t even know if you can buy material on line....I suppose you can as you can buy everything else.
Heres to a better 2021 for everyone....thanks to my on line friends for keeping me company and sane during this past year 🥂🥂

  • The recipe sounds interesting and I bet the lemon drizzle cake was tasty. I'm glad you can still bubble with DS 😊.

    Chicken and walnuts was amazing.
Thankfully most of the snow has virtually melted on the pavement- just a few bits in the shade that are icy. I walked around to Morrison’s for milk and bought a few other bits. Mince pies reduced to 35p. That’s the first time I’ve been out of the house since we came home on Boxing Day.
Ds surprised me by saying he’ll stay tonight.....so we've had to run up and empty all the stuff out that we’re storing in there after building work....2 big computer chairs, a collapsed dining table and other stuff 😳😱 - it’s all in the spare front room now.....still need to open the sofa bed out for him. It’s done us a favour as we planned  to empty it anyway in the new year for decorating.
I’ve been looking at table top fridges to go in the utility room for beers and wine. We used to use a window ledge in a cupboard that kept things really cold, which doesn’t exist anymore. At first we were going to get a drinks fridge but might go for a tiny real fridge with a  mini freezer for ice cubes as we never have room in the freezer....then if needs be we have a bit more fridge space too...plus the drinks fridges aren’t as cold.....
