I’ve been doing a bit of thinking today and still can’t decide what to do about work. I suspect occupational health will want me to see a doctor and it’ll be up to him/her to decide my next steps. If they recommend early retirement I think I’ll go for it but I suspect they’ll say I can go back to work as I know the criteria for early retirement  are very stringent. I have a phone consultation next Monday. It’s hard to judge how I’d manage at work. I still get very tired...previously I’ve built myself up by swimming, meeting with friends, walking to town centre, resting and doing a bit more each time. It’s been so much harder to do any of that with this virus lurking everywhere.... on the other hand I miss the children....and companionship at work. I suppose I’d just have to give it my best shot if I have to go back.
Once dh is back at work on Monday I need to take the bull by the horns and start building my strength up in readiness should they say I need to get back to work. I’m going to build my walking up to 50,000 steps over a week. I might not be able to do this at first but that’s my aim....preferably 10,000 a day but I’m allowing for rubbish weather some days as I won’t be out walking if there’s any ice.
I need to take a serious look at what I’m eating....I’ve slipped very badly and the GP wants BP readings. I’m finding it hard with dh around and doing some of the cooking....ok that’s probably an excuse as I can munch through chocolate and crisps without any encouragement from anyone. But I need to sort myself out once and for all.

Do you really really think that work would want you to go back?
    I am not so sure.

You need to build up your strength slowly though don’t overdo it. Just start off doing X amount of steps an hour round the house if the weather is bad. It’s a tough one with work, see what the OH and the doctor say first.

Thanks....I’m not convinced work will want me back Beanie and I know whatever the decision they will want it sooner rather than later as I know they’re very short staffed and can’t afford to replace me whilst they’re paying me....even though it’s only half pay now....The phased 2 finishes in February so I’m guessing they’ll start something then....
I won’t overdo it SA, I was hoping to do the walk around the NT place that we did a while ago...it totally floored me at the time. But it’s fully booked so I can’t see if I’ve improved my stamina for walking.

Just had to smile....had a video chat with dd. The children were playing in the background. I’d said we’d planned a meeting with ds for a walk but it was too snowy and icy. Gdd pipes up...’why didn’t you meet for a snowball fight then Grandma?’ 😂😂😂 made me chuckle

So it’s tier 4 for us....I expected it to happen. It won’t actually make that much difference to me as my local shops I visit - Morrison’s, B&M and Aldi are all classed as essential and I can still visit relative in the bubble. I did visit the local shopping mall for Christmas shopping but don’t plan another trip for a while which is just as well. I feel for the smaller shops and catering businesses......the worrying thing is it could go on for a long time. Hopefully this vaccine will change things....let’s hope it works against this new strain. On a plus I’m not spending a great deal of money - no coffees, no meals out or pleasure shopping 😏
    Stay safe everyone.

  • Sorry about tier 4. You're right that many shops will still be open anyway. Great news about the Oxford vaccine being approved though 🙂. They reckon they need to give two million doses a week to prevent a third wave, but it should just be possible now hopefully 🤞 .  Saving money is the only good thing about this virus, but at least it's one plus.

Your DGD's remark about the snowball fight made me laugh  🤣.
