It’s a hive of industry here today...ds has come around and between us all the units are going up 👍😀👍.....not sure if we’re helping or hindering ds as he is doing all the heavy work. Ds is deciphering the instructions and I’m supervising 😂😂😂😂 Plus I’ve made shepherds pie for tea 👍 it’s getting there 👍

I have a crystal ships decanter that I had bought as a wedding present over 40 years ago. It looks gorgeous when it’s just cleaned and the sun or a light catches the glass. It it very wide based and has a long thin neck with a gorgeous stopper. If I wash it it takes forever to dry out and goes Misty and I can’t get a cloth in to clean it. It has been in a cupboard for years but I’d like to get it out again to go in my new dresser which is very nearly complete and has glass doors and will have a light in. Anyone got any suggestions for the best way to clean it ?

  • I'm glad your kitchen is coming together :). The ships decanter sounds lovely but I'm not sure how you could clean it. I'm sure someone will be along with a good idea soon.

Do you miss the end of term Christmas mayhem at school or glad to be away from it? I'm not sure if I'm enjoying it or not as it's so exhausting and it's not leaving me much time to do anything at home. It's all different this year anyway with the virus restrictions and a lot of the fun seems to have gone out of it.

I really miss the end of term Christmas fun Hairy, although I suspect it is very different this year. It doesn’t feel a bit like Christmas. I have got around to writing a card and present list today but not done much more than that.
I’m really pleased with my dresser unit....it’s much bigger than I visualised but it looks ok. It’s a close enough match to the kitchen....not an exact colour match but good enough. I’m reluctant to start filling it yet though as it still needs lights and I know my dh might forget about them if it’s fully functional.....so although I’m desperate to get things in there.....I’m hanging back until I get lights 😏

  • For your vase, have you tried isopropyl rubbing alcohol or tightly twist paper towel and insert in neck. Just make sure you leave enough showing to pull out. Eve

DD gave me this to clean my metal water bottle. Perhaps something similar with a bit of cleaning solution on the sponge would work. It gets into really narrow necked bottles.

Thanks for the cleaning suggestions folks. Funnily enough I’ve sort of done a combination of both suggestions. Dh has some wire brushes which are long and pliable for cleaning the tubing on his fish tank.......why didn’t I think of this years ago 😏.....I wrapped paper towel around and it just about went down the neck. It hasn’t got right into the corners but by twiddling and manoeuvring I’ve managed to dry it out after washing in soapy water and rinsing in good old vinegar solution. For the first time ever it hasn’t steamed or clouded up.....only taken me 42 years to find the solution 👍👏👏
We just ‘nipped’ to the Swedish furniture shop which has been the recipient of much of our custom recently. I’ve decided there is no such thing as a quick nip to there. We came out with storage boxes we didn’t even know we needed 😳😳 until we saw them. Dh is currently putting the lights in the cupboards and I’m going to do the Christmas tree. Just having a much needed cuppa and resting my poorly toe. I just about managed to get a shoe over the toe I think I’d broken....I’m now sure it is broken.....’ouchy’ as my gdd would say.
Dh bought a new to us tv stand from the charity shop when he dropped the sideboard off the other day as our tv only just fits on ours....it’s exactly the same but bigger. Bargain for £10. I’ve steam cleaned it this morning and it’s like new 😄 Just hopes it fits where the other was.....maybe we’ll have to knock a wall down to make it fit 😳😂😳😂

Had a lovely day with relative Christmas shopping yesterday. I’ve got all my presents except a surprise for relative who was with me. They’ve seen the main pressie so I just want a token they don’t know about. My cards are written but I forgot to get stamps so they’ll get posted today. My Christmas tree is up and my painter friend is in retouching and finishing off where needs doing. I feel a lot more organised now 👍
I got a bargain in JL. Littlest gdd has just discovered Sylvanian Families. She is 4 tomorrow so I’m hoping she doesn’t get it for her birthday......anyway there was a campervan - the corner of the box is torn and there was £12 off. 😀😀 By the time I’ve done a little repair job on the corner no one will ever know. The cardboard will be in the bin 1/2 hour after being ripped open.

I feel more like the old me today. I think my day out did me the world of good.....even though we couldn’t eat out as we’d usually do. That said I’m really tired today but I’ll be wrapping presents up so nothing too strenuous.
Dd had a COVID test as did gdds and sil on Monday - thankfully all came back negative. It’s typical that I’ve lived in tier 3 for what seems like forever and we’re hoping to drop down this week.....she is now tier 3. I’m still hoping we get there at Christmas 👍
