Probably teaching grandmother to suck eggs (obviously not really) but if the boiler had been leaking it has been filled back up with water so it has enough pressure to work.  I've had 2 boilers in this house over the last 30 years & both of them leaked from day one, I get them back & get them back & then just decide it is easier to deal with the occasional drop in pressure myself.

Thanks Badmemory. We bought new batteries for the little thermostat box and the problem was solved 👍👍
We went over to see relative yesterday and had a lovely lasagne he’d made. Some things are still tricky for him and the leaves in his garden were piling up and very slippery- so we all set to and cleared them. It was lovely to do something and to feel useful again, but in all honesty I’m not sure how useful myself and relative were 😂😂🤔 dh did more than the lions share 👏👏 Then I was so tired I couldn’t help much with the preparation for tea 😏
We watched a film on Amazon which certainly gave us food for thought. I won’t say much about it in case anyone else watches it. It was called Deep Water.....definitely worth a watch.
The builder came to do a few bits this morning and will come back after the worktops are finished to tie up any loose ends. The end is definitely in site.
After he’d gone I cleaned my fridge freezer....it was an absolute disgrace.....but I haven’t cleaned the top yet as I’m  not climbing to reach it. I got down on the floor to clean the bottom trays  - talk about laugh......I’m glad no one was watching.....between my weak tummy muscles, dodgey arm, hip and ankle I didn’t think I’d ever get up. We will be getting a new fridge as the seals are all split, but this one will do for a while yet. I want a table and maybe a dresser first in place of the sideboard. Time to prioritise my wants as we’ve spent quite a bit of cash recently.
So after my strenuous (for me) day yesterday and morning today, I’m shattered and having a couple of hours watching catch up tv and pootling on here.
Happy 1st day of advent everyone.

  • Sounds like you have been very busy the past couple of days , so a rest is needed. The kitchen is on the homeward run now , I bet you will be so pleased that it is done finally and you can enjoy it.

Glad you’re nearly at the end of it. You don’t realise when you have a refurb it’s all the other bits you need to finish it off that all mount up.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • I'm so pleased the end is in sight for your Kitchen so you can get organised again, I'm hoping to have my floors done next year but the thought of moving all the furniture is worrying me,I don't know where I will put it 🤷‍♀️

    It’s a it’s a nightmare - we have rooms piled high with stuff - literally 😳😳
So the fitters came this morning- first words they said was we can’t touch the sink - we’re not insured.....so I had to phone the builder to come and disconnect it. Builder wasn’t happy as he’s on another job. Then they wanted to set the sink above the worktops.....it’s an under sink one....said the sink was too big. I told them it came from Howdens and was recommended by them. I ended up ringing Howdens to speak to them. So then they decided the worktops were different heights from one side of the cooker to the other. Wanted builder back to sort it.....so I’ve ended up ringing builder to come back. There is now a battle going on between them - NIGHTMARE 😳😳😳 One day I’ll have a job done that is straightforward.

Builder has come back.....it was millimetres difference.....would have take worktop man a couple of minutes to sort. I suspect he’s being assy because I phoned Howdens ....who agreed it’s an under worktop sink 😡😡 But everyone seems happy now - hopefully should be ok at the end of the day 🤞🤞
Im upstairs fully clothed in bed with my dressing gown ontop. They’ve got all the doors open and are drilling the worktops outside. All I can say is thank goodness the end is in sight 🤪🤪🤪 I’ve warned neighbour that if she sees me rocking in the corner to bring me wine 🤣🤣🤣
