Milann's life keeps getting in the way.......

I'm glad to read you went with your ❤️ heart on your kitchen milann. I've got white metro tiles round the walls with the cupboards and oven/hob and sink area - I went with darkish grey grout between the tiles though so the tiles are easily cleaned and the grout won't stain so much. I've also gone for white paint on the rest of the walls as the kitchen is quite small and it will be easy to paint over if needs be.I'm so pleased I live in walking distance of the sea - or rather an estuary in my case, but it's lovely to walk by - the sky looks so big and the vista differs every day.Agree with SA about the to go coffee. Good to hear that you got out on your own though. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I hope lockdown won't dely your kitchen installation Milann as you need something to look forward to, you've coped with so much recently and you always stay so cheerful and positive.
This new lockdown is a bit grim isnt' it? I know you'll miss going out for meals and things, but at least we can still get takeways. Will you still be able to see DS still? Are you in a bubble with him?
One thing I'm not sure of is whether we're allowed to drive somewhere to do exercise? Does anyone know? Or would that count as a non essential journey? Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I think travel to exercise would probably count as a non essential journey HH
. BBC site says shouldn't use private or public transport so guess that means unnecessary car journeys. Shame really because for some people walking round a local forest or country park would be safer than walking round their local streets dodging other people. How they can enforce it though I don't know but I guess the risk of a large fine would put most of us off. Cannot see me getting up on the coast path any time soon sadly as nearest stretch is about 10 miles away. I agree it is a bit grim. Just done the last of my xmas shopping online as I am not convinced they will open shops in December after reading what Gove said and it will be panic stations then for everyone. Luckily we only have a short xmas list of people we buy for now.

I know in the recent lockdown in Southern Ireland they weren’t allowed to travel more than 5k away from home unless it was for work. I think this coming week will see rules clarified, it didn’t help that the announcement was after close of business (for most) on a Saturday.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

I hope your kitchen gets finished Milann , but I think work like yours can be done even in lockdown. Can't wait to see the end result when it's all done and dusted. Hope you managed to see your relative today and had a nice meal together .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.2

It’s been quite a few days. My dh stress levels have been going through the roof with this kitchen....every time I’ve looked at him he has either had a tape measure or plans in his hands. We’ve been back to Wren and had the plans redone. Basically it’s a U shape kitchen opening up into a dining area. Anyway the range cooker wasn’t central at the bottom of the U and the cupboards were different sizes either side. I could cope with this but once dh realised it wasn’t symmetrical he couldn’t. So we changed some cupboards to redress this and he has spotted another fault which tbh I could live with. BUT he is getting it all out of context and I’m quite concerned with the stress it’s causing him....it’s not worth it. So tonight we are going to cancel. We will get a similar kitchen from Howden’s and will go for painted wooden doors rather than a plastic wrap - these won’t warp as the plastic on my old ones have or the plastic come away as my ds one has and are environmentally friendlier. A kitchen is a kitchen at the end of the day but I only have 1 dh and several years ago when his mum was ill and he was stressed he had a massive seizure.....I know he was very stressed when I was in hospital and he couldn’t visit me and there was a time when I was very poorly in hdu and it was all a bit touch and go. So my suspicion is all his pent up emotion is now coming out. Better out than in I suppose.Anyway the builders have placed my old units back in loosely with a worktop above so it is liveable.Talking of builders - the boss man was away last week and all was well until Wednesday - nobody turned up and haven’t until today. Apparently their vans both broke down at once. BUT they are here in force this morning and it’s all systems go. The labourer who has worked so hard is having a bit of a health scare with a massive lump in his neck which is affecting his breathing and swallowing. So he hasn’t shown - I hope he is ok as he’s a nice fella. I’ve spotted a toilet and a sink in my front garden and there are 3 people working there at present. At the end of the day my kitchen will get done - there are more important things in life.
We had our meal at Tom Kerridge's restaurant that has been cancelled twice previously booked for Sunday as it is dh birthday- that won’t be happening now 🙄 but we realised the vouchers I’d bought last year are valid until early December 2021 and not 2020 as we’d presumed. So we will hopefully get booked in once the lockdown is over, whenever that might be. 4th time lucky 😏
My positive thoughts today
- I am well and getting better
- I have a choice of kitchen suppliers and builder who can put it in when I’m ready
- I can still see my ds during lockdown as we are in a bubbleJanuary spends - £587.582 -
