Hope everyone has had a lovely chilled time over Christmas. I’m not sure where the time went. But it was a special time. The gks were spoilt rotten and loved the presents we’d - and everyone else bought them. The youngest was 3 the week before Christmas and kept taking everyone to the fireplace - she was really funny saying - Father Christmas went ho ho ho - reindeer eating dinner - me asleep in bed and presents. She took us several time to show where the reindeer food had been eaten and to the tree with fantastic expressions and gestures. The elder one had a box set of Ronald Dahl books and I spent a fair bit of time reading with her.
I think me best present was a shopping bag which biggest gk has chosen and bought with her own saved up money herself from school - bright pink with - special mum written on it- even though I’m her grandma not her mum. The joy she got from giving this bag was priceless and she beamed when I told her it could be my knitting bag.
We came home on Friday, went to see friend in care home yesterday with his wife and then took her for a meal which was lovely. A very different Christmas for them both this year....made me count my blessings.
We’re having a lazy day today and going shopping tomorrow ready for dd, her hubby gks coming to us at new year. Then dd and hubby are going away for 2 nights in the lakes whilst we have the children. I’ve been very lucky seeing them so much this year. Dd has bought us tickets for the panto and ds has tickets to go to Sealife so we will be busy. We’d already arranged a meal out next Friday so ds is babysitting whilst we go.

We’ve been out for a walk by a localish river this morning- it’s very pretty and only really used by locals so just dog walkers there. It was lovely to see the blue sky and not especially cold either. It was good to have a quiet time as it’s my mums anniversary today - where have 43 years gone. I’ve had my little reflective time now and will carry on and enjoy Christmas as she would have wanted. I wish she’d have met my hubby and children so she could have enjoyed them as I enjoy my grandchildren. But it wasn’t to be - the best I could do was share photos and memories with my children and I think that’s part of the reason why I try to make times with my grandchildren as special as I can.
I had to smile as their nana was there with them over Christmas too - she barely spoke to the children and they didn’t particularly bother with her. I think she loves them in her own way but just isn’t child centred. Whereas my dh, ds and myself were doing something with one or the other of them virtually all the time....each to their own I suppose. She doesn’t know what she’s missing :D

Hi Purplemum - good to see you. The walk was lovely this morning - blue sky, a river with a couple of weirs to look at and only a 10 minute drive from home.
My hip has finally settled down a bit - long may it last. I couldn’t have done that walk a few weeks ago. Not a massive walk a couple of miles - certainly gave me the feel god actor :D

I probably won’t get time to post until after new year as I’ll be busy doing Grandma duties.
I’ve done a bit of thinking about the next decade. All being well I’ll have finally received the inheritance I’ve been waiting over 3 years for, hopefully I’ll be retired and fit enough to enjoy it. We don’t know what’s around the corner and it’s as well we don’t sometimes. I’m now nearly 2 years older than my mum was when she passed away and with our friend having a life changing stroke - I realise every day is precious......so I need to do what I can to keep myself healthy and happy and keep the hip replacement the consultant talked about as far away as possible.
So my resolutions will be pretty much the same as the previous years BUT this year I want to actually do them :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    - keep on top of finances - stay debt free:money:
    - keep active and mobile by swimming/gym and walking most days :o
    - get my weight down at least 1 1/2 stone
    - stay positive and have fun :D

If I can do these things Milan’s worl should be a happy one.
Oh and to stay away from hospitals :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Sounds like a good plan. The last decade hasn't been my best so I'm hoping things will change for the better. I love the fresh start feel of a new year :)
