Yeah, but i am off an age when you did not have a choice of unsalted butter.

But then again unsalted butter is just unnatural! :rotfl:

I bought two packs of the Aldi Specially Selected vegetable crisps this morning. Normally £1.29 per pack but marked up as 79p. When I checked my receipt after check-out, I had been charged full price.

The supervisor went to the shelf and said that all the bags of crisps there were not the ones on offer. They admitted it was their mistake and I had the crisps for 79p each and was refunded £1. The supervisor said she would immediately amend the labeling.

I just makes me wonder how many people do not check their receipt and been charged incorrectly. It is rare that I have found an error at Aldi. Morrisons is a different story. I did my shop there last week and was overcharged on eggs. The shelf label did not correlate to the actual packs. Again, I was refunded but in that case they did not give me the expensive eggs but found the correct ones I thought I was buying. Still free range but not organic. Price difference again about £1. In Morrisons, the supervisor did not mention changing the label!

People often overcook beef and don't leave it rest long enough which causes the meat to become tough. I usually cook a 1.5-2kg joint for an hour and then rest it for an hour before carving. Never fails to work for me.

Me too resting makes all the difference. I also season and marinade the night before spices and garlic also tenderise the meat

Yes, because marinating was developed to make otherwise unpalatable joints of meat edible. It works but what you end up with isn't traditional roast beef.

Cracked open a fat slab of Aldi Genoa cake I found lurking in a cupboard. I'd bought it at 1/2 price after Christmas and it "expired" at the end of Jan.

It's absolutely delicious, and my guests agreed.

I am, but I hardly use butter. For baking it is always salted.
