Yet another update on the coffee pods I'm really disappointed with them the coffee is good enough but the amount of pods that don't work or partly work is unacceptable.

Have you tried Lidl's for comparison? They are a standard line and the same price I think. I've got their strongest ones and have been reasonably impressed, certainly none have failed yet. But have never tried the genuine article as I mainly use ground coffee.
  • I'm a Lidl virgin, but everyone raves about so much wanted to try it for a weekly shop! What are your opinions on their meat and fish. Good quality and value or should I shop elsewhere for that? Prices are so low I sometimes worry where they come from...

The fresh free range whole chicken is really good and I like the lower fat minced beef. I buy their frozen large prawns which are fine but I don't like their frozen coated fish - breaded cod etc.
Venison steaks are excellent and half the price of other supermarkets. Ham is generally really good particularly the german smoked ham slices. Bacon is not great and I don't usually buy pork or lamb there.
Really don't be worried as most of our food comes from the same suppliers just packaged differently and sold to us at wildly varying prices!

Only way you are going to find out is to try them yourself and see if you like them.
If you want a choice of dozens of branded beans then it isnt for you. If you are prepared to give unknown things a go , then yes it will be perfectly okay.

Sometimes I wonder if I need reading specs! But then I remember it's not 1995 anymore :o

Just had a delicious sweet treat with my evening latte c/o Aldi: a Choceur milk chocolate and hazelnut wafer. My mum visited earlier, she declared them better than Bueno (after the third one :D).

Good quality, and good value, in a nutshell. Better than Tesco, but not as good as Waitrose.

Yes tried just about all that are available, the Lidl ones are pretty good so are Cart Noir and my favourite from Costco are the Dualit ones. Never had any like the Aldi ones I don't know if they will keep them as a permanent line but I will pass on them.
  • Horrible stuff. It smelled like toilet cleaner and tasted even worse.
    I binned it.
