Just a heads up for people with a Nespresso coffee machine Thursday 3rd of March Aldi have a coffee machine as a special, compatible with Nespresso and Aldi branded pods,I wondered how long it would take for them to follow Lidl in making their own brand pods, will report back when I have tried them.

Aldi have Alcafe Nespresso compatible pods in the specials aisle at £1.79 for 10 pods.

I got 10 of each yesterday a strength 9 Intense and a strength 8 Lungo the Lungo is my favourite but both are good for the price.

I wish they'd do one to match the Tassimo pod design. But I doubt they'd be allowed to sell the Costa coffee ones, which is what I mainly use.

What's happened to all the very reasonably priced own-label 500ml shampoos Aldi and Lidl used to sell - around 69p for 500ml, as I recall?

They seem to have been replaced by much smaller 300ml bottles at around the same price.

Not aware of anything that would have increased production costs, so presumably it's just the usual case of charging what the market will bear?

It's also probably due to shelf space required /revenue ratio, 300ml works better.

Aldi Holly Lane Chocolate Gateaux was one of my favourites. That one came in a purple foil wrapper, and there was also a Tirimisu variety. Both were inexpensive at £1.19 and had the bonus of a long shelf life.

ScarletMarble expressed approval too, on an earlier thread.

The manager of the local store informed me that they have been discontinued. DISASTER !

I've spoken to Aldi customer services, and they have confirmed the discontinuation, but there will be a brief reappearance as a special buy in August.

It might be helpful if anyone else who liked these gateaux also let Aldi know of their disappointment.

Update here, over the 3 days had quite a few pods fail to work never had this with any other pods, the foil on the larger end seems slack and not tight enough it just pushes in in the machine instead of piercing.

I have seen something similar in Farmfoods. I will confirm this by Wednesday
