After years of buying their buttery spread Aldi are now proudly stating their "Greenvale Beautifully Buttery" spread is a new recipe.

It definately is and as a result smells and tastes absolutely terrible!

Bought Aldi toastie bread yesterday, similar coloured packaging to Hubby's favourite Warbies toastie loaf but 45p compared to £1 for Warbies. Thumbs up from Hubby for Aldi's own, much nicer than own branded bread from Tesco or Asda and, in his opinion, as good as Warbies :)

I always get this bread, n have no problems with freshness, however the bread from Sainsbury's is often stale :(

Aldi's Still Flavoured water (4x500ml 89p) has a new recipe/new supplier. I've only tried the Peach so far, but its much better than the old one - less sweet and with a slightly sharp citrus-y aspect to it.

You can tell the difference between old & new stock, as the old version had an all-white lid on all flavours, whereas the new one has a coloured lid (which I presume is colour-coded to the flavour). The Peach flavour has an orange lid.

Some chocolate digestive biscuit reviews for anyone interested (including Aldi and Lidl):

From a personal viewpoint, the Aldi/Lidl ones are just fine - and the price point makes them an undisputable winner. :)

Odd that so many people are having problems with breadmakers. What make are they?

Have to say that in around 30 years of using Panasonics I could count the number of less than perfect loaves on one hand.

Yep, gotta be a Panasonic for a decent loaf.

They should have tasted the dark chocolate ones...I don't even like dark chocolate, but there is something about a chocolate and plain biscuit combination that enhances the taste of the chocolate.

I do like both milk and dark chocolate but prefer dark chocolate on my biscuits.

I think the bitterness balances out the sweetness of the biscuits.

One question though, why does the dark chocolate digestives cost more than the milk versions in both Aldi an Lidl?

Aldi "Belmont Biscuits" All-Butter Scottish Shortbread Fingers 210g, @49p :T
Lovely - & not too sweet or covered in sugar. Really yummy.
Much nicer tasting than many cheaper ones which are made using oil instead of butter.
Also a very, very good price.

While we're on the subject of biscuits, Aldi's half coated fruit and nut cookies are extremely good, too. I seem to have demolished half a packet earlier today... wonder how that happened?!
