My friend is looking for a stone house/cottage detached with great views, quite isolated, 2-3 bedrooms. He doesn't mind some work but not a complete rebuild of a wreck.
Any ideas where? Any RM links?
Wales and Scotland will get the most for the money.
Anything else to narrow it down
West of the M5, gets a bit hilly and less built up.0 -
We've established Scotland is too far. This guy needs to be within 3 hours of London (presumably by car - but still restricts radius).0

Most of these "residencies" (e.g. Clarence House, Highgrove House & Llwynywermod...)are state assets, mainly owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. His main "Family Home" Highgrove was purchased specifically for old wing-nut ears and to start with he paid no rent: After objections were raised he started paying rent but since he gets all profits from the Duchy estate anyway it's still arguably free to him & his missus....Never mind him, he's fine. He has houses all over the place....;)

I have no objection to Charlie having multiple homes: I do object to us British Citizens largely providing and paying for them, particularly when so many decent people are find paying for their (one and only) home so tough..0 -

parts of Scotland are within 3hr of London by air.
begs the question why access to London.0 -
Rural isolation these days may mean something quite different from the past. I noticed that the lovely farmhouse and cottage in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales

still gets tesco deliveries and high speed broadband. Perhaps the world is getting a little bit smaller.0
