House in the hills!

Nice looking house, but I wouldn't exactly describe it as a "house in the hills", being on the flat western side of S. Uist.
3 hours from London might be a tad tricky too

The whole point of this thread was not to be prescriptive as friend has viewed in what I would term conventional places and I thought I would try to get some information from some clever posters of areas he might not have considered.
It it is too difficult for you to deal with a question without specific detail then that's fine don't answer but others maybe able to think of interesting areas.
Thanks for your help thus far but clearly unstructured thinking is not your thing!
I'd plead guilty to that. But equally, how about some structured input from your end, as suggested in post 12?No free lunch, and no free laptop

The information I can give is
Detached property up a hill
300k
Good views
Doesn't matter if it's close to the sea
3 hours from London ideal but could be further
Space around it so isolated or semi isolated.
Could be in England or Wales, maybe Scotland a bit far
Some Land around would be good, doesn't have to belong to property
Non village location
That's all I can say, hope it helps:T0 -
3 hours by car or train? By train it is easily doable for properties in cumbria or peak district (1hr 47 from Macclesfield to Euston, or alternatives depending on exact location). Even North Wales would be an option0

Yes either car or train would be fine0

If he's happy with semi-isolated then theres loads around in the Brecon Beacons like this for example:

How about these? A bit over-budget but there's 2 properties and they are certainly in the hills.

I wouldn't call £135,000 "a bit over budget"!0
