Thank you, what a lovely cottage I will pass it on.0 -
Could start with England/Scotland/Wales? Roughly which region? Coast, mountains, hills, flat? Any preference AT ALL about distance to, well, anything?
Well, what I didn't want to do was narrow it down because that's what he's done and got nowhere but I guess if there was a choice it would be within 3 hours of London but
I want him to think outside the box rather than within it!0 -

South Wales is 3 hours from London and there are lots of hills here. A lot of said hills also have houses on them.0

Where would those hills be?As the post title says 'house in the hills'
Would they be near the coast? Would they be near the mountains? English hills? Scottish hills? Welsh hills? Northern Irish hills? Hills within <say> 20 miles of a city? Hills within <say> 5 miles of a shop?
To give you an indication, there's 1,200+ properties in Powys alone <£300k, 2bed+. A VERY wide swathe of those could easily be described as great views, hills and isolated.

The whole point of this thread was not to be prescriptive as friend has viewed in what I would term conventional places and I thought I would try to get some information from some clever posters of areas he might not have considered.
It it is too difficult for you to deal with a question without specific detail then that's fine don't answer but others maybe able to think of interesting areas.
Thanks for your help thus far but clearly unstructured thinking is not your thing!0
