A really busy stressful day in the city and in the office that I managed well. I don’t always manage stress well so I am pleased with myself.

I had some small moneysaving victories today.

Firstly, I took in a really healthy high protein lunch after buying a mediocre one on Thursday out of desperation for £5.50. My one was delicious and was made up of YS food :money:

I did not buy any cakes or chocolate today. :T I did buy a coffee for £2.20 but just the one.

I received my debt statement today and the interest monthly is in the teens :T

I overestimated the debt figure and it is actually more than £20 less. I was so pleased I phoned an paid a few pounds more to make it up to £25 :T

I avoided interest charges by not going overdrawn and calling my CU to arrange a £20 transfer. That small amount really helped. This time last year I did not have that account and would have incurred an overdraft charge. :T

I hope you had some money saving victories too :)

WFH. Woke up grateful for it too ;)

    Drudgery

    washing uo x1, x1 x1 x1
    cleaned and relined bin
clothes washing and drying (not easy in damp weather)
swept bedroom floor dust bunnies away ;)

Manky job of the day
Ground level kitchen cupboard cleaned and bleached after over a year (a lot over)

    Food prep
    Pot roast chicken for fridge
    Batch of quinoa/millet for fridge
    Black bean and chestnut burgers

    Money matters
Checked yesterday’s debt statement again and they have given me an overdraft of 1,000 plus. Obviously to tempt me when I am near to the end. Bad people. AS IF I WOULD :rotfl:

I hope you have had a good day

  • I like the sound of the burgers - is it a recipe or a YS?

It's a DIA recipe. I tend to use what I have and create something. I figure they go together. I have some chopped coriander so will use that and I have some middle Eastern spices and some dried apricots. I'll roll them in quinoa and millet as I have some in the fridge then fry them.

I'll let you know how they turn out :)

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

    I am feeling off-centre today. :(

I have too much on over the next few days so I am taking some time off work rather than try and cram the events I have in.

I have a funeral too, but nothing appropriate to wear. It is on Tuesday so I will shop for a dress on Monday. I hate having to find clothes to a deadline. I should have a black dress for occasions anyway. Most people do. I seem to get older but not anymore ‘together’ somehow.
    :o
The second of 2 NSDs in a row. I have £8 in my purse but that is it until pay day so to be honest it isn’t hard having a no spend day.

I have also been 3 days without chocolate. Thank god there is coffee left :)

I am dealing with feeling off-centre by keeping busy. The house is a complete mess so there is more than enough to keep me busy.

A card came today. The outside of my house is such a mess I am embarrassed when neighbours put cards through my letterbox.:o

A friend, for my Christmas present, has booked tickets for Dream girls on Wednesday. Something nice to look forward to…

I will pack my sports bag and go straight to the gym tomorrow. I find I can do the things I don’t want to do if I do them as soon as I wake before lethargy sets in. I have to trick myself into doing the things that I should be doing naturally. This miserable weather isn’t helping either.

I hope you are faring better than I am :)

  • Good luck with the dress shopping DIA. I keep an outfit literally for funerals/ remembrance services - :o it sounds silly but I never like to wear the clothes anywhere else afterwards, so it seemed easier to acknowledge that. A plain black dress, plain heels/ boots, black wrap. I did buy a woollen dress this year as the dress I had was thin jersey and too light for a funeral in January, I thought it would look out of place. Fortunately it can stay in the loft almost all of the time - it is the only outfit I am grateful to waste money on.

Glad to hear you are taking time off rather than cramming things in... and congrats on the choc fast!

I think most people do the same. This debt free journey has seen me cut clothes shopping to a minimum and so far a funeral dress has not been essential. A dress put aside will be high on my list when I am DF :o

  • Yesterday I attended a funeral and it left me feeling lonely and sad. So it was nice to be treated today to a West End show and a glass of wine. A lovely Christmas pressie :)

Payment made and my new debt figure has been entered as part of signature. I am down to £2,510 now. :T

I have 2 council tax free months in January and February so a DF date of February looks increasingly likely although I take nothing for granted as I know my emergency savings are almost non existent and anything can happen.

I got sick and tired of hearing my internal voice berate me for not exercising so I swam 28 lengths on Monday. I plan to return to the gym tomorrow ;)

I hope you all had good days in the lead-up to Christmas
