  • Aww thanks for all the positivity and good wishes everyone. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and enter 2018 with renewed energy :)

Getting back into the groove here at DIA Towers :)

So a predictably rubbish Christmas but a little more rubbish than normal as I have a cold/flu that began with the shivers on Saturday and culminated in Christmas Eve in going to bed with piles of blankets on top of my duvet. :(

On emerging yesterday I hoovered and steam cleaned my living room and hallway floors. I also steamed a rug that I had under the stairs and it is now looking bright and clean in the living room :T
    Cleaned and decluttered hallway
    Decluttered some books and cups.

    Today Already :)
    Hoovered stairs and hallway
Hoovered cobwebs at ceiling level (I usually forget to hoover here)

Working this morning from home then off this afternoon for a walk, a power shower and steam at the gym. I dare not swim with this bug but a walk will be good. :)

Does anyone know which f1tb1t to buy that does not connect to wifi? I want to monitor my progress in 2018 but I do not wish to be ‘connected’ to something all the time.

Well must get on. Have good days everyone :)

  • You can turn the connection off in the App, so it only syncs when you ask it to. Failing that, pair it with a computer so it only does it when the computer is on. I used to have a Zip paired to my laptop, and synced every few days - unless I was on a challenge with Greenbee when I would do it more often.

I have a Blaze, connected to iPhone, under account you can click into the device and turn off 'all day sync'. I also have mobile data turned off for Fitbit.

Thanks Redo. Does that mean I can only use it if I load an app onto either my phone or computer?

Goodness DIA. If I had achieved a quarter of what you have I would be jumping for joy.

You have had an amazing year and inspired so many people I'm sure. You did me.

I can't wait for your debt free post this year.

    Have a wonderful 2018. X

Thanks parsniphead. Don't forget this is a very edited list of the achievements. If I added in the bad bits it would be more balanced really. But yes, I am pleased I made so many steps forward. :)

I walked for 30 minutes today. It was wet and windy but I felt better for doing it. :)

I cleared my penny jar today to contribute towards my shopping. :money:

I went looking for wrapping paper but even on offer I didn’t like it. I prefer tissue paper or brown paper so I left it. I did not buy cards as I already have Christmas cards leftover. :money:

My new frugal triumph is the reuse of one of the pineapple salsa jars. The salsa is brilliant and addictive. It was reduced ages ago from £5 to 50p. The jars are fab. They are mason jars so I use them for the fridge and to take to work with salads in. Today I filled one with water and added a slice of lemon and screwed on the lid for a glass of water. I will put one by my bedside tonight as I don’t like to drink uncovered water during the night. :money::money:

    MnS shop

Free range turkey was 30.00 now 11.50

Spiced Christmas coffee was 3.50 now 1.75 X3

Italian handmade amaretti biscuits that I never buy at full price. Were 8.00 now 4.00 x3 boxes

    Thyme stuffing 4.00 now 1.40

    Full price organic apples 3.00

    Total 71.50

    Paid 33.15 —£5 off voucher = £28.15 :money:

Yay to having the day off tomorrow :)

Yay to fixing a database issue on my computer all by myself :)

Hope your day went well reader

I think so - you need to set it up initially, even if you don't sync it regularly. If all you want to do is track your steps daily then you are probably better off buying a basic pedometer that doesn't need regular updates. HTH

I hope you all had a good Christmas

I resisted the urge to buy a new hand bag (so far) it IS expensive, but SO VERY LOVELY and it would be perfect for work. Yada, yada, yada....

On Christmas Eve I went out for a coffee with a friend and we got our turkeys. They were half price and organic/free range. Mine was reduced from £36 to £18. I was pleased, but noticed most of the turkeys were sell by 26th and MnS were open on 26th so I went back this evening as turkey is my favourite meat and so hard to get any other time of year when I want it.

    Glad I did. :)

Free range (F/R) turkey £30.09 reduced to £2.95
    F/R turkey £35.32 to £3.55
    F/R boneless turkey breast £36.52 to £3.65
    F/R boneless turkey breast £37.60 to £3.80
F/R crown and stuffing on the bone £51.98 to £4.20
F/R four bird roast: turkey/duck/chicken and pheasant £80 to £8
F/R four bird roast: turkey/duck/chicken and pheasant £80 to £8

    VALUE = £351.51

    PAID £34.15

My freezer is full of high quality protein. This should reduce my shopping bill dramatically as these are the major expense items. :money::money:

    DIA x
The above is me posting on boxing day 2016. I did the same thing this year. Clearly I am a creature of habit.
Once again I bought turkey for a third of the price first £30 reduced to £11. Then a few days later when everyone was bored of turkey I went back to stock up.

This year I bought 5 free range or organic whole turkeys or stuffed turkey breasts.
This year they came to £253 and I paid £25.45
Once again I am pleased to have good quality protein in my freezer. It will do me up until Easter :money::money::D

  • Morning campers :)

Work is letting me WFH today which is a relief as the weather is foul and although I feel better than a few days ago I am still not 100% better.

Over the past few days I have been using my steam cleaner

    Stairs cleaned and steamed
    Loo floor steamed clean
Bedroom floor swept and steam cleaned

I have cleaned the inside of 3 windows
    Cleaned 2 mirrors

I am going to concentrate on cleaning again today.

The areas I will restore to clean and functional are the kitchen, dining room and top landing.

Thinking ahead I need to FIND TRADES PEOPLE.

I am thinking of using British. G. ‘There’s a hero for that’ They are expensive but at least there is a body to oversee the situation if something goes wrong. They also find the person and I don’t do well with finding tradespeople. Perhaps for someone who is nervous about tradespeople, paying the extra might be worth it.

I have to remind myself that the goal is to get the house sorted out in 2018. I don’t want to waste money but at the same time perhaps I need to accept a higher cost because of my circumstances?

I would welcome comments on this as I am not sure I am planning to do the right thing.

Wishing you all a positive day
