A WFH day so dishes washed several times to deal with the backlog, cooker cleaned, new soup made, stock for the fridge made. Downstairs floors swept, washing sorted…Blah, blah, drudge, drudge.
As I (fingers crossed) approach becoming DF I am thinking…
It is interesting to see different people’s attitudes to getting debt free. We will all get there, but we all take different roads. Scenic routes. A roads, B roads.
I think children are an important consideration and with little ones I can understand not wanting the DF journey to impact on their lives too greatly. The time available with little ones will never come again. I would do it differently with children.
For others they will stop off at a motorway cafe to refuel.
Not me.
I will be arriving (bar any emergencies) in a few months time slumped over the wheel with exhaustion but with the biggest grin on my face. But I don’t mind. I don’t mind at all.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Drudgery
Dishes X3, cooker hob, floors swept downstairs. Bedroom cleaned and lightbulb changed after no light for since forever!
Food
Made some pretty good spiced hummus with coriander and sun dried tomatoes
Made a lovely lunch for taking to the office tomorrow
Made a small rack of lamb YS £14 to £3 and gorgeous
Future self
Another poster drew my attention to being just as careful with our time as we are with our money.
So, I am going to leave the safe shore of college work and just stick to private work. I dislike the politics and paperwork of colleges. I have one more course to deliver.
I am not going to pursue a further qualification that will support me in something I don’t want to do anyway. I already have a spare degree in a subject I did not think through.:o
My plan is in the new place (2019) to run workshops from there. Many of my friends do this already but in a home of disrepair it isn’t an option. If I also have a lodger full or part time. Combined with no debt or mortgage I should be able to go down to a 3 day week eventually and still live a comfortable life
Fixing the house
Soon I will no longer be able to hide behind the fact I am repaying debt to avoid house repairs and tradesmen coming in. I don’t know how the hell I will manage this next step. Becoming fearful again…
So that is me today: hopeful and fearful…
I hope your day went well readerIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Okay so my new YS strategy is to go once a week to a store where no one competes (read snatches or behaves badly) where I can just do a high protein shop and leave. Today I timed it right. I left work early to get there before the scrum
This way I can still YS shop and not squander my time waiting for reductions
So, with my £20 budget I bought…
Mini pies 1.40 35p
Chicken breast escalopes 4.50 1.40
(piri piri) X3 packs (13.50) (4.20)
Boneless chicken breast
roast and jus X2 6.00 1.90
(12.00) (3.80)
Smoked bacon X3 4.50 1.15
(13.50) (3.45)
Angus mince 3.50 90p
Rare beef slices 3.50 90p
Stuffed bacon wrapped
turkey slices 4.00 1.00
Antipasti X2 3.25
(6.50) 2.25
TOTALS £57.90 for £16.85
My new 1,000,000th idea to on the SAME SUBJECT  was inspired by other diaries. So I am going to try a MrM shop fortnightly, especially if I can get their veg box. This should cut down the number of times I need to go into a supermarket to 1 or 2 times a week.
So, a new system to take into 2018. Let’s see how long it lasts

I am going to start try YS shopping occasionally. Our local little Mr S has some good bargains quite often. I may try going to Mr M and checking there's out as well. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
