Thank you for your helpful post. Your posts always make me think. What will I do when you go?

I have a fixed payment of £800 Orange Ena and then I make overpayments between £200 and £400. That is a huge amount on a single average salary so it does get hard. I could pay less but paying it off quickly is more important to me than buying clothes however much I want new clothes.

I do moan and rage sometimes about the frustrations of such a high debt repayment, but my diary is a safety valve really. It doesn’t mean I don’t want to keep going. I want to pay the debt off as quickly as possible because psychologically, debt depresses me and I am prone to low mood, so I need it gone NOW.

But I do know how lucky I am. In 4/5 months I will be debt free and mortgage free and I can start doing up the house with vengeance. :T My plan was to be in my new home by 2020 and I am probably ahead. I want to be where you are Orange Ena, happy and excited and ready to embark on a new life in a new home. That’s the great thing about debt free diaries, you see, watching you struggle with repairs and your job and debt and seeing you where you are now convinces me it is possible and I will be able to do what you have done.

    Thank you for inspiring me
    Have a great week :)

I can understand about just wanting the debt gone now. And you're not that far away from being able to keep all your salary to yourself, each month is flying by :) We can't do it all so choices have to be made. I know for me that I would rather leave my job than anything! Book a holiday or leave my job? Job. Save for a new bathroom or leave my job? Job ;)

Aww it's totally possible, of course it is. I'm looking forward to reading all about your new plans, to see what you're doing to your house, to read that you've dropped some hours and are doing more creative things. This debt business is coming to an end for you, it's the beginning of the end now :p And the new normal will be so exciting :T:T

    WFH today.

Lots of drudgery done and a whole chicken cooked and in a glass sealed bowl in the fridge. I find a whole chicken in the fridge very comforting somehow. :)

I emailed my college, thanked them for my summer of substitute teaching and gave them my mobile number. I said I would be available to cover any short term absences such as sickness. I’ve worked out there are about 6 classes I can potentially cover and this would be a good way to supplement my income without committing to a class or having to do any boring admin.

I have a new class coming up at the end of September that I need to start prepping. Already getting nervous about that one…also nervous about my new private group in case my college doesn’t like it. :(

Yesterday I bought the Dine in for £10 offer. The free wine wasn’t nice so I froze it in bags and will use it to jazz up chilli dishes. I also picked up some pineapple chipotle salsa which was £5 and was reduced to 50p. It is total yum. Got the last 2 jars. Keeping one for Christmas :)

I’ve washed up 5 loads of washing up (a clue to what a mess I was in) I needed today to get back on track. :)

Feeling better about life. It might be because I have been paid but think it is the sunshine :)

I went to Waitr0se and left after spending 30p on 3 boxes of grass seeds reduced from £3.99 to 10p each. I’ve been tacking the grass so this will help with all the bald patches!

I hope the sun shone on you too.

The salsa sounds lovely, I'm mildly obsessed with all things chipotle.

Ive just caught up with your diary DIA. Bad news about the squirrels but you've faced it and are getting it sorted. :T

With the PPI I just went io to the relevant bank sites and there was online links on there. Apparently it's harder to be granted PPI on mortgages but it's worth a try.

That's a fab saving on the grass seed. I'm not good at bargain hunting, I think I need training.

You're going to hit that debt free target very soon. Keep going, you keep the rest of us going. :T

    Thanks Parsniphead :)
I must get the PPI sorted. Thanks for the info.
Re bargains? Wherever I am I pop in and scan the shelves. I can do it in minutes. I don't even pick up a basket I just walk through the store and often out the exit with nothing, but sometimes I spot a great bargain and when I do I pounce. :D

Funny what you put out into the universe. ;)

I met with my new private group yesterday evening to finalise plans. We begin in 8 days! They want to pay me in advance every six weeks. I imagined they would pay me weekly and I would use that as ‘fritter’ money. I have missed money that is there just to fritter although it isn’t very MSE to say so is it? I planned to store this extra money in a jar and use it for pocket money and treats and eyeshadow and cake and chocolate. ;) Now they are paying for a whole six weeks the money turns into a large lump sum that I cannot fritter.

I am now faced with hundreds of pounds that I can pay straight to debt and that would get my debt to below £4000 by October. Only 2 days ago this is what I said I wanted. Be careful what you wish for?

Today I am helping out on a cake stall to collect money for a charity. There will be live music and vintage stalls so it should be fun :)

Whatever you are doing enjoy your Sunday :)

Hope you've had a good day helping on the cake stall.
A few posts back you were saying you needed some new clothes, could you put a bit of the money towards your new clothes and the rest to the debts? That way you can do a bit of both the things you wanted to do.
Hope you manage to get rid of the squirrels soon.

Thanks Susie. I will do as you say and buy a complete outfit and then I will put a little in a jar for treats and then I will pay the rest to debt.

    TODAY'S NEWS
Squirrels continue to worry me. I threw some poison but I think I need help so I will call pest control. £240 will clear out my savings but they have to go :(

Today, I checked another MnS branch to see if they had any more pineapple chipotle salsa and bingo! I now have a total of 12 jars reduced from £5 to 50p with a sell by date of March 2019. I love the jars too as they are Mason jars as the salsa is from the USA. I will replace my smaller jars now :)

A good day for me today and I hope a good day for you too :)

Fantastic news on the payment. You can do so much more with a large payment, however you spend it.
