Hi DIA,
I'm returning your visit to my DFW diary. I see from your signature you've managed to clear over £17k of debt in 18 months, that's an amazing achievement. I shall be following your diary to see if I can pick up any tips!0 -
Evening DIA
Just going back a few posts where you say you can't afford to replace your wardrobe, would you not consider only making half payments to debt so you can treat yourself to some new clothes or even some towards your appearance fund? You're so close to the end anyway. Forgive me but you're not tied in to those payments are you? Can't remember if you are or if it's is your choice to pay that much so you can be debt free by your target.
I sometimes read the MFW diaries which are so inspirational. I can't wait to be at that point where I can start overpaying my mortgage :T But I had a thought, once you are debt free, you won't be an MFW. You can totally skip that bit as you are already mortgage free. That is marvellous! In a few months, you won't owe anyone a bean :T Get planning those treats, good times are a-coming
Have a brilliant weekx

I have a fixed payment of £800 Orange Ena and then I make overpayments between £200 and £400. That is a huge amount on a single average salary so it does get hard. I could pay less but paying it off quickly is more important to me than buying clothes however much I want new clothes.
I do moan and rage sometimes about the frustrations of such a high debt repayment, but my diary is a safety valve really. It doesn’t mean I don’t want to keep going. I want to pay the debt off as quickly as possible because psychologically, debt depresses me and I am prone to low mood, so I need it gone NOW.
But I do know how lucky I am. In 4/5 months I will be debt free and mortgage free and I can start doing up the house with vengeance. :T My plan was to be in my new home by 2020 and I am probably ahead. I want to be where you are Orange Ena, happy and excited and ready to embark on a new life in a new home. That’s the great thing about debt free diaries, you see, watching you struggle with repairs and your job and debt and seeing you where you are now convinces me it is possible and I will be able to do what you have done.
Thank you for inspiring me

My council do not do pest control for private properties
I found an organisation that seem okay online. Planning on calling them today. I am worried about the cost, but what can I do?

Dont be so hard on yourself.
You have not failed but just not managed everything at this moment of time.
Boots do a fantastic cruelty free range which is very reasonable at £1.99 for most things. Foundation, lipsticks, lip colour, eyeshadows ect.
Was very pleasantly surpried when I tried it.

Good Morning Campers!
I continue to get inspiration from the MSE forum. Yesterday there was a post from Toni responding to Dark _Sunday. She had an improving the house at no cost plan to see her through the last stage of her debt free diary. She concentrates on decluttering, cleaning and the garden. I like the idea and intend to start now!
I have had the steamer out and cleaned 2 floors
Yesterday I did an hour in the garden
My debt is now £6,648. So my balance should be a debt of £4,500 in October. Ideally I would want to be below £4,000 in October so I need to plan. This might be a good time to try again with selling stuff.
I called the pest control company. I imagined cameras, trap boxes etc. All they do is throw down bait and the squirrels disperse and die when out foraging. That will cost me £240. I can do that too, so calling a different well known company to see where I buy the bait.
The roof company was called but has not come back yet. I will chase again today.
So as a tough week draws to a close I am ending it feeling better than I did at the start of the week.
I hope the week has been kind to you and roll on the bank holiday weekendIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
