Fuming at jobcentre, pushing us through hoops

It sounds to me like the JC are finding this whole thing slightly odd (and, so am I), and are insisting on proof of everything before they pay out, or decide not to, as the case may be.
Which is what they should be doing.:T
Believe it or not, it is actually more hassle for staff when a claim drags on like this - I am sure they would like to make a decision and clear the claim as quickly as possible.
As previously advised, your friend should go to the CAB who are experts in sorting out this sort of thing.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Personally, it is a good thing people are getting thoroughly vetted as to whether they need benefits or not.
The general gist of your posts, are, you sympathise with your mate but at the end of the day, you stated you want the money he owes you.
You will get it a whole lot quicker if you do what the jobcentre asks. OK, it's an inconvenience - but personally, if I were in this predicament, I would take every piece of required information down there and give it to them in hand.
Being sullen and moody and persisting with the 'poor me' attitude that your friend has, is obviously getting him nowhere.
A defeatist attitude is just that. It defeats you.0 -
its ok for the JC to be suspicous but if they have no proof of the fraud they shouldnt mess people about and pay up its messing with peoples lives.0

This seems to be going around in circles.
How about you get your flatmates written permission to act on his behalf? Then write in to the DWP asking for a written explanation as to what the hold up and problem is. Post their reply on here (or take it to the CAB). That way all concerned would have a clearer picture---also most civil servants think twice before putting something down in writing as it has more potential to bite them if its wrong.0 -

How do we know that they don't suspect fraud? Then write in to the DWP asking for a written explanation as to what the hold up and problem is.
By the time that is done, the OP's friend could have got a letter from their previous employer and had their claim approved!
The Jobcentre are only asking for one more piece of information, more than they would for a usual claim. I really don't see the issue!Gone ... or have I?0 -
I moaned at flatmate today to phone JC again.
They now say as he cant get details from employer he needs to fill in something called a "honesty statement" and show all his bank statements from when he left until now.
Which isnt a problem except he used some of his HB money to survive so just worried they might say why was he spending cash if he had no income.
Plus I dont know if he has all his statements, and if the jobcentre would accept a print out from bank with transaction details.
Annoying im doing all his work for him(I wouldnt be so bothered if he didnt owe the cash!) He went out with his new partner tonight who is spoiling him whilst im at home cleaning and packing for our flat moves!
Hes taking the !!!! majorly0 -
We went in today and its strange, Jobcentre said he didnt need the bank statements and just had to write down the last day he worked on the honesty statement.
Weird.
So hes phoning tommorow when the BDC has his statement to ask if thats right.0 -
Right now they claim they never asked for a honesty statement and they are waiting for his payslips and his P45!
We are back to the beginning again!
This is beyond a joke.0 -
Little hint: Get every request from them in writing, then there is no disputing what has or has not been said.
Did you ever ring a solicitor?!Gone ... or have I?0 -
We were giving them one last chance, and tried as people said to get the info they need(i.e a letter) but it got nowhere so phoned back, thats when they asked for a honesty statement, which they now claim they never asked for!
So as its now like this then yes we are going to solicitor0
