Update on old thread which was getting big.
My flatmate left work 2 months ago, and hasnt had full benefit since then, just £15 per week.
So I have had to support him with an overdraft and my credit card both of which are now maxed out(and have been for a while)
After 2 months(and 2 weeks) of pestering employer they finally gave his P45.
We thought hooray now the problem is solved.
Phoned jobcentre today who now want a letter from employer stating dates he worked, how much he earned and when he left.
I phone back and woman is rude and claims he could of been getting holiday pay or working on the side(cheeky cow)
I say to her you have all his pay slips and if you count the amounts paid they equal the total amount shown on the P45(its a no brainer) and she tells me off for butting in and lectures me saying im not listening.
So my friends phoning a solicitor tommorow as its gone too far, every time he hands in payslips they either lose them or ask for more. then said they needed a letter from him to confirm when he left, then said they needed p45 which ex employer refused, finally got that and they want more!
Will this never end!

The CAB may be more useful than a solicitor. Certainly they will be cheaper.0

I really don't see the problem. The Jobcentre are not responsible for the delay in your friend receiving his P45. They now require one further piece of information.
Solution - give them the information they require. Really not difficult ...Gone ... or have I?0 -
He left work 2 months ago & your supporting him ? Why hasn't he got another job ?0
-
I'm surprised the jobcentre are even discussing your friend's claim with you.

The rules to getting benefit may be cumbersome, but they are there for a reason.
If your mate was delayed in getting his P45, his gripe is with his employer, so I would direct any action onto them.
The DWP are following the rules, and any complaint or action will be thrown out.
Meanwhile, couldn't he have got a job by now?
Lin :rolleyes:You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Well hes been accepted into college, and tried and tried and tried for jobs and keeps getting turned down but hasnt for a few weeks as he has been badly depressed punching walls, drinking loads of alcohol and shouting at me.
And my friend gave jobcentre his permission for them to speak to me.
It's not easy getting jobs often, I have been looking for 6 months and all I see are 4-8 hours a week on Saturday, which I am turned down for myself.
But im starting university in 3 weeks and moving anyway0 -
If the situation you described is true, he would be better getting medical help, not help in returning to work.
Surely 4 - 8 hours a week is better than nothing?Gone ... or have I?0 -
That was what got him into this mess in first place, started 6 hours a week work then was told he wasnt suitable and left and had trouble since
Plus whatever you earn is taken right back from you off the benefits.
Plus most of these jobs say you have to be flexible with your hours and come in if a staff members sick etc.
I just finished Prince's Trust and that was fun and at least I did something lol0 -

Working 4 - 8 hours did not get him into a mess, a job that he was not suitable for did.Plus whatever you earn is taken right back from you off the benefits.
Absolutely no reason for not getting back to work. A 4 hour job could lead to a full time job. No job does not enhance your chances at all.Plus most of these jobs say you have to be flexible with your hours and come in if a staff members sick etc.
Flexibility is required for any job. However, employers do recognise that students will have core hours that they have to attend college.
All I am hearing now is excuses ...Gone ... or have I?0 -
Think what you will I know im starting uni in 3 weeks and moving out of area, thats why I havent got a job(no point staring one for 3 weeks)
The strange thing about his job was he worked for a whole year as a cleaner elsewhere before he moved here 20 hours a week and was at college full time so hes not lazy, he only moved as he couldnt afford to stay in the town as he wasnt getting a grant anymore so its strange the new employer said he wasnt suitable and fired him really fast.
I reckon its all morale for him he lost all interest in applying as he gets turned down and his adviser is rude to him and puts him down and calls him lazy(doesnt help his depression)
As for me I was applying for loads of jobs in call centres and confused at why I was turned down as I have experience in 3 call centres, great references and letters from employers saying I was in top 3 sales 3 months in a row, plus I have a NVQ in Call handling skills.
Very confusing.
Anyway uni in 3 weeks so away from the stress I hope just hope my friend pays me the cash he owes me!0
