    The UK negotiating position:

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.

    From my link:
Since I answered your somewhat pugnacious question, perhaps you would answer mine:
"We" in the UK are indeed leaving the EU.
You however are not, are you?
Since you are living in Luxembourg (and indeed are married to a Luxembourger IIRC).
Do you plan upon returning any time soon?

    ETA -
Your sentiments may be admirable but the chances of that?
("Lets all think about the FUTURE not the Past")
    In THIS forum?
    Between nil & zero.

    Hello Jock,
I don't think I have seen the word pugnacious in print for a long time. Thank you.
Sorry I missed your answer to my pugnacious question. (Sorry what was it)
    In answer to your questions
As a British Citizen I can write "we are leaving the EU"
As a British citizen I can ask "get on with it"
Yes I live and am resident in Luxembourg. No I will not be returning to live in the UK unless forced to do so. I am/will be taking steps to reduce the possibility of that happening.
I am looking forward to a weeks holiday in the UK at the end of this month.
Upon setting foot on British soil I will not be claiming any financial hand outs and if I fall ill will hope to get back to Luxembourg for treatment as quickly as possible.
Please feel free to ask other questions if you wish.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Thank you for an honest response - though I do wonder if maybe you will miss such grammatical antiquities?

I really do not wish to sound ungrateful but my question was intended purely to clarify that the reasoning behind your stance was what I already suspected, and which you have now confirmed.
You have made your position clear and my gratitude for your candour is genuine.

As an aside (given your last sentence) I wonder .................. will you take dual citizenship - or even relinquish UK citizenship?
Or can you see yourself considering these in the near future, perhaps?

Purely from a personal interest POV & I completely understand if you have no desire to respond to such personal inquisitiveness.
Regardless, I hope your holiday goes well.

So the public expected to keep all the upsides? I don't believe that.
Most people in my social circle were aware there would be downsides and still thought it was worth leaving.
Those who expected to keep all the benefits with none of the responsibilities were deluded surely.
I wonder if the Brexit voting Booze and Fag cruisers had factored in the price of paying full price for their vices in the future? A lot of cash could be saved bringing thousands of cigarettes back from holiday, or buying off those that made regular trips. Well! One footshot for them should be a huge boost for the treasury, NHS 🤗

Here is an interesting paper on the potential UK ESTA and the EU ESTA to monitor movement.
    http://eulawanalysis.blogspot.lu/2016/09/will-uk-citizens-have-to-pay-to-visit.html

"The EU has been considering an ESTA for a while. It would form part of the Schengen system of standardised external border controls, which are paralleled by the abolition (in principle) of internal border controls between Schengen States. The Schengen states comprise all the EU countries except Ireland – although Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Croatia do not fully participate yet – plus four non-EU Schengen associates (Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein)."

I don't think it is biased but a simple analysis of what MIGHT happen.
If it is biased I am sure someone will tell me
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

I along with tens of thousands of Brits living in the EU are considering duel Nationality. (Source chatting with neighbours, message boards and forums)
You also will be aware of this as a number of UK media outlets have reported this and if you didn't believe it, take my word for it, it is true.
It is gratifying to hear that the Luxembourg Government is making it easier to jump the hurdles to Citizenship. You might find it strange but they appear to want to hang on to us foreigners.
My position is clear as I have "skin in the game" unlike many others who see Brexit as a simple and easy change of direction and not the huge earth shattering and life changing thing it is to some people.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

They are Politiciens on both sides so expect leaks and spin.

Of course those trying to sell their house at peak price won`t be impacted at all, only FTB`ers, who can probably crash in their parents much bigger house for free, will feel the heat, they will be pulling their hair out in frustration for sure and demanding that they be allowed to borrow more to keep the Ponzi afloat :rotfl:
