https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referendums_in_the_United_KingdomReferendums are not legally binding, so legally the Government can ignore the results; for example, even if the result of a pre-legislative referendum were a majority of "No" for a proposed law, Parliament could pass it anyway, because parliament is sovereign.

well balanced research
clearly shows that the poorer people who suffer from the flood of cheap labour tend to be against more cheap labour
whilst those who benefit from using cheap labour tend to welcome more.0 -

Why would they publish a report advocating approval for doing nothing if that's what the majority wanted to do?
There wasn't a do nothing option, reason being that the EU doesn't remain static. It constantly invites new basket-case economy countries then insists on ever-further integration with them.
Look at the countries who were in the EU (as it was then) when we voted on it in the 70s. Then look at the countries that have joined this century. Then look at the volume of EU law in that same period. Then you'll begin to see why people voted to Leave.0 -

The referendum was to help prevent the Tories imploding over Europe (again) to help secure a 2015 GE victory. That's by the by. No government is bound by the result of any referendum whatever the question or aim.
I'm quite looking forward to leaving the EU to be honest so you lot can calm down a bit.0 -
Legally binding or not, Brexit will happen, so the moaners might as well get used to it. There's nothing worse in life than a sore loser.0

How about a UKIP, Tory coalition Govt? That's what you will get if the establishment frustrates the will of the people, and bare in mind lots of Remainers now tell the polls they are cool with a Brexit.0

The Govt, establishment leaflet through every door gave clear trade descriptions informing us this was our last chance to decide if we stay or leave.
Trust me I'd love to see the privileged establishment class face down the people, bring on baby0 -
Has there ever been a time when ordinary people could buy a home without a mortgage. I would not be living in my home rent free without a mortgage on house and car loan to buy a car which I needed to be able to work.
I hear this phrase debt junkie I'd like someone to define it.[/QUOTE]
Someone who can`t live without debt and doesn`t see any value in saving.0
