I think that most (but not all) people would prefer to live near friends and family especially once one has children of ones own.

Many people who've come to work from me from other parts of the world have had children here, and friends and family are here. Interestingly, when I speak to them about Brexit, they all say "we" when referring the the UK and its people.

And bear in kind that this seemingly "near their friends and family" line can be used to argue for deporting people to all kinds of places, so maybe consider leaving it to people to decide for themselves?
the same emplyee working in the UK or their home country would work better in their home country.
That depends on the employer, the employee, skills, opportunity and much more.
better for the UK and the 'donor' country for all the usual reasons
    State them.
because I don't believe in the free movement of people as this moment in time for all the usual reasons.
Reasons starting with X and R.

I'd hazard a guess you live a fair way from where the poor and unemployed live.

I mix socially with many different people, and this covers the political spectrum, income spectrum, and employment spectrum, but my home city was very much on the side of Remain, so maybe I'm just like far away from where the racists live? Dunno.

Now, by a majority of 23%, most of them expect prices to go up."

Can I just check whether these surveyors were experts or not? Remember we need to treat predictions by experts with care.

  • Interesting article showing the Brexit vote in terms of a FPTP election result.
This Map Shows Why A Pro-EU Party Might Flop At The Next General Election

The country was almost evenly split in the referendum – but that’s not how it would play out in a general election.

..To see how the country’s referendum vote could affect a general election, we’ve translated the referendum results (which in England, Scotland and Wales were counted by council area, not constituency) into results broken down by parliamentary seats. And when you do that, you get a radically different outcome. Instead of a close result, Leave win in a landslide.

Although the referendum result was close nationally, Remain piled up many of its votes in a relatively small number of constituencies (London and Scotland being prime examples). As a result, the UK’s first-past-the-post electoral system would produce an extremely skewed result.
In our projection, Leave would win 421 seats across the UK, while Remain would win just 229.

It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

It's very noble of you to socialise with the great unwashed, although I suspect you don't live in their neighbourhood.

    .

No surprises. The voting maps showed as much. Even the Poles here were voting for Leave.

    That is correct.

That anyone would think otherwise is ridiculous really.

I'm fairly sure there are some employers on this board, employers possibly of statisticians, analysts, there may even be some analysts.

Ask them if you can extrapolate a trend from 1 data point from disparate data sources describing different situations if you're all so intent on not believing me.

A bit harsh don't you think?

What if someone comes to this country legally, is working full-time, and their wages are low enough to make them eligible for housing benefit?

In London there are far more working HB claimants than those out of work... (overall uk it is about a 1/3 of claimants)

They are not required, there are enough lazy chavs sitting on benefits who can be told to do three days a week in the chicken factory/field/kitchen/dustbin collection round/care home/whatever or go without fags. Most people in the country have had enough of this nonsense, HB was designed to prop up the housing Ponzi, not help average people.

"You live in a fantasy world. The fantasy world of SNP." - I don't know what you think my way of thinking is? Can you link to quotes where I have indicated I live in a fantasy SNP land? I've never voted for them in my life.

    "Posh areas in Scotland??? "

"I want Scotland to leave to see if they could survive in the current economic climate. I used to like Scotland but my opinion has changed because of SNP." - You know we're British don't you? SNP are just one of the political parties.

Anyway, I, and many others, have lost interest in the agendas that Crashy Legend keeps forcing on this forum, and regularly dragging other discussions off topic. Too much hot air, the ultimate point of which has totally been lost. I couldn't even say what it is that you hope to achieve? What's the desired end game? Do you want to be able to buy your £160k terraced house for £130k one day? Is that such a huge part of life? I'm just confused, bored and at the same time fascinated at the persistence of some!

Maybe you just dislike the SNP... why not just say so? Because living in Scotland can be as good as anywhere in the UK. I've got it lucky and I appreciate my life, part time work, comfy standard of living, generally positive about pretty much everything in life. 2 weeks until the keys to the new house too, very excited!

I have seen some overpriced houses being reduced lately whereas they may have got into a bidding war. August is a slow month, as always there are loads of factors at play.

Life's too fun to sit around waiting for a cheaper home. My toddler and baby-to-be live in the day and I want them to feel the security of a good home. Not to mention that the amount of work we have to do on the place will see the value rise significantly more.

Didn`t realise this forum was designed only to glory in house price rises......:rotfl:If people are waking up to how debt impoverishes them that is great by me!
