We're simply debating the post-brexit recession you correctly forecasted before the vote. :)

Why are you all still debating recession?

I thought I'd pointed out to you that you need far more time to pass and many more data points before you can scream recession in peoples (internet) faces.

Bad post-Brexit news on BBC news site today - house prices predicted to fall. Not.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37037964
"in the wake of the EU vote - surveyors were evenly divided about whether (house) prices would rise or fall over the next 12 months.
Now, by a majority of 23%, most of them expect prices to go up."

I know it sounds harsh, but we need to apply tougher restrictions on the new incoming foreign born in regards to housing and foreign property investment. We need to put British Citizens first - No I'm not racist.

If someone legally comes to work/live here, it is a bit unfair to restrict their opportunity to rent or buy a home isn't it?

Or is that not what you mean?

    ps. i'm not racist either.

New incoming foreign born should have social security insurance and have a minimum income standard excluding key workers.

Let`s face it, we are past peak people wanting to come here to live/work, the Brexit sentiment is going to discourage many others from doing so now, and the politicians know that if they don`t address certain big issues they will be punished at the ballot box, and it is pretty certain that there will be a political backlash in the EZ against free movement soon, plus the PTB are struggling to get any growth/HPI even with the numbers that have previously been coming here? House prices and BTL are toast, anything else is just wishful thinking by people with property debt, IMO.

Not unfair to tell them they can`t get housing benefit though? There are always going to be people in UK society, sometimes due to no fault of their own, that need help with housing costs, BUT you shouldn`t be allowed to rock up from any part of the EZ and step onto that gravy train like some sort of free McDonalds happy meal for just coming into the shop (although this was how it was designed IMO)

At the other end the wealthy should be told that they are obliged to rent their property to local families at decent rents if they intend to leave an investment property, in London say, empty for years on end (that one doesn`t matter so much anymore ;))

You've made it clear you dislike British people living in Scotland based on the fact they live in this part of the country. Maybe racist is the wrong word... 'regionist' is more apt.

You are making things up again. SNP way of thinking is spreading across Scotland.....

A bit harsh don't you think?

What if someone comes to this country legally, is working full-time, and their wages are low enough to make them eligible for housing benefit?

In London there are far more working HB claimants than those out of work... (overall uk it is about a 1/3 of claimants)

They should not be allowed if they earn below the minimum income standard.
