Out of interest, how many of those here taking a relaxed/positive attitude to Brexit actually do manufacture widgets in the UK?

Just so you know I voted Remain.

But Remain lost - so, as I see it, you can chose to be positive - or you can chose to be negative. I guess you've chosen the later. How long are you going to keep that mind set up?

Manufacturing is 12% of the UK economy by the by.

I work for an American company which will not be impacted by Brexit at all. Obviously the company I work for doesn't make widgets ;)

It is for many companies - which is why the FTSE is so high.

Partly. But partly it is because of yield chasing, as funny money suppresses other yields.
Clearly, not for you though - which I guess is why you are so grumpy :)

If you really want grumpy tell me how landlords have only their tenants best interests at heart while campaigning for removal of Clause 24.

But anyway, I point out silliness if I think I spot it. Brexiteers would be claiming a win if the Pound had gone up or down, so please, by all means, carry on.

Yes, for companies with global exposure it's high when measure in our freshly-devalued sterling. In dollar terms, the FTSE 100 is well below the post-referendum level and the FTSE 250 (mainly companies with UK exposure) is far lower.

Fine, go off and find more experts,

We need "real data" not expert predictions and surveys.

I'm sure you could work out what a small percentage of the world's human bladders a urologist has treated, but I'd still value their views above those of someone with very limited knowledge but who's still keen to make their views known.

Fine, go off and find more experts, but I suggest you maybe try actually listening to them rather than repeatedly telling them that they are wrong.

Oh sorry, silly me, I forgot that people are fed up of experts!

what exactly have I said you were wrong about except where you are obviously confused

you may be fed up with experts but I value them highly

    I voted Remain.

So I ask you too? How long are you going to stay negative? The rest of your life?

The IFS has released a report noting that mere trade access to the Single Market is not enough for Britain and that we require Full Membership if we're to avoid the decrease in tax revenues completely wiping out any savings from not paying EU membership fees.

Ouch.... That's another 'inconvenient truth' for the Brexiteers.

The 'inconvenient truth' is that the IFS is a sixth funded by Brussels.

The top 3 parties Tories, Labour and UKIP love screwing with the younger generation. The Tories are the worst for it, full of NIMBY councillors.

I'm choosing to be realistic, and while hoping for the best, I need to plan for the worst. I also need to react to how things have changed just with the threat of Brexit hanging over our heads and can't wait a few years in the hope that things turn out better than expected.
I work for an American company which will not be impacted by Brexit at all.

My company has global exposure and our contracts are all in dollars. Yes, we're lucky, and many other companies are going to have a tough time in comparison.

The main impact we're suffering is that recruiting from the EU is now close to impossible, so we're having to ramp up in our EU offices and reduce headcount in the UK.
Obviously the company I work for doesn't make widgets ;)

It's not our primary business (we still do a lot of it though) but it's the key activity for our customers and/or for their customers. In a previous life, I did work for a large electronics designer and manufacturer, so had the full Japanese quality training and toured factories in Asian to understand the quality/yield issues and feed this back into our designs. Fascinating stuff!
