You'd expect retail sales measured in sterling to increase given the drop in the value of sterling.

Why? Do you think Wayne and Tracey have gone mad in their local Primark on the grounds that their sterling is worth 10% less in US Dollars?

    37k views so far.....

Sometimes it is good to learn about financial markets and how money is created.....tedious and boring I know but good education. Remember financial markets are good indicators, unfortunately most people get caught with their pant down.....they don't understand how things work.

Learn from whom? Because based on your posts you could write what you know about financial markets on the back of a fag packet.

The mortgage rescue scheme is no longer available in England. From 2018, support for mortgage interest will be a loan (you pay the loan plus interest) payable to the mortgage lender. This is just what you need during economic uncertainty....more debt.

I know marksoton, my two degrees are in Engineering, wish I studied economics now. I can write the main thing down a fag packet tho:

Banking Regulations + Next Financial Crisis (derivatives) = Sovereign Debt Crisis

He is saying on measure, if the same business were done it'd now show up as 10% more as the cash has less value vs goods.

Some of the retail goods could also be sourced in UK, someone on these forums mentioned this from 2008 that they gained more clothing orders locally as it compared better for them now foreign prices appear higher
Equally, it would be political suicide for the Tories to preside over a collapsing economy if they push for 'hard' brexit.

There isnt any good reason for this to happen. Peoples reasoning seems to prefer to switch from one absolute condition to the next, when its gradual and mixed in results not one or the other.
We may leave a political agreement with EU but we wont be going to war with the major powers of europe. We'll trade in any case a similar amount because they value us as customers and even as producers and similarly we benefit from their unique key selling point. Shutting us off or vice versa would be a loss to both parties and isnt what leaving EU should result in, I doubt that happens.
It might muddy the waters in the channel between us and Europe or I hope it might even clear things up, Im certain we wont now have a vast chasm of no trade now we left the in club

it is right to discriminate against all the peoples of the world except for a selective group of 28 predominately white christian countries.

We've done this one before. No-one other than you seemed to be bothered about colour or religion, and no-one else had a big issue with EU versus non-EU immigration.

We can do it again if you like. Or we can put our energies into fighting racism and intolerance.

Correct. It will take time for anything close to the full 10% to feed through, but we're already seeing it for imported food and only the oil glut has protected us from that.

Note that price rises very much have already hit buying prices for businesses but customer-facing operations tend to hedge more.

True, no true racist would be concerned about the glorification of a group of 28 white christian countries and the discrimination against the rest of the world.
They would see no big issue at all.

note that even the idiot Vinc Cable is beginning to see how unsustainable such racism is

Vince Cable has admitted that the principle of free movement is not "defensible" because it treats Europeans more favorably those from around the world who have "more in common" with Britain.

The former the Liberal Democrat Business Secretary said he had no "theological" problem with the principle being "changed in some way."

Speaking to Radio 4 this morning Mr Cable said the principle of free movement was no longer politically viable and that migration from the EU will have to be "managed".
"I think one just has to accept the reality of the matter that that was just not politically doable. The system was not very defensible in any event.
