australia openly encourages immigration (like UK ) and USA has an open border with Mexico and also legally allows significant immigration from elsewhere

Perhaps you mean Canada, whose residents need no passport for entry to the USA.

It doesn't sound like a great deal to me. Paying 90% of the price not to be a member of the club.

I wonder how much Switzerland contributes to the EU, as its not even in the EEA.

    What will happen ?
For the vast majority of people, absolutely nothing, you will still get up and go to work and earn just enough money to manage.

no I mean what I say : I was talking about REALITY not fantasy

just like Canada having about 40 million people approx, no significant separatist movement any more and has a surplus rather than deficit
: just about as far as possible from the Scottish situation

The poll shows why UKIP gained so much support: British people don't want to give welfare to immigrants.
Can you post the data showing how many EU migrants claim in work benefits as opposed to out of work benefits?. "Welfare" in the eyes of some sections of the media/politicians only includes out of work benefits.

The problem is Gen we just don't know how many EU migrants are working National Minimum Wage jobs whilst claiming housing benefit,Council tax benefit,Working tax credits,Child tax credits etc etc etc.

Personally I don't want a Bulgarian coming here with his family of 5 kids ,working a NMW job whilst receiving upwards of £25k a year in benefits whilst paying naff all into the system. I'd rather not be paying that to a Brit either for that matter but we don't have a choice but we should have the choice not to throw money at EU migrants.

The proposed 4yr ban on EU migrants was not acceptable to the EU on the grounds of it discriminating against EU migrants but apparently a 3yr ban may well be acceptable (not sure why that wouldn't be discriminatory). The NMW in Bulgaria is (420 lev) or £175 per month compared to the UK of £1,200 a month so will the proposed rules stop low skilled EU migrants coming to the UK?. Have a look and see how low the NMW rates are across Eastern Europe and its no wonder why the UK is so attractive.Add the UK NMW together with the in-work benefits and its a no brainer for many EU migrants, come to the UK , get a low skilled job and get far more in benefits.

I think there are a few poster on here who live in a bubble and have no idea whatsoever what in-work benefits have/can be claimed by low skilled EU migrants.

The UK does not need low skilled EU migrants coming here to work NMW jobs. I would argue in the UK it keeps people poor because an influx of low skilled migrants keeps wages suppressed.

Of coarse big business wants the UK to stay in the EU, otherwise it will severe their never ending supply of low skilled workers but that doesn't raise the wages or the standard of living for the poor in the UK in any way.

A points based immigration system may not be perfect but its a damn sight better than what we currently have.

I would like more information about the process that will take place if the UK vote to leave.

You certainly demonstrate why you need it by your comments here. Maybe you should look for it or is that too difficult?

However that is not really important. What I really want to know is exactly what will happen after an OUT vote.
I have "heard" that some people "think" that we will have 2 years to withdraw. "If" that is correct, does the countdown start at midnight from the day of the result is announced. Or, does it start when the Prine Minister of the day lodges with the EU an official letter of resignation.
My greatest problem in all of this is the facts are being obscured by the spin put on them by both sides.
BUT, I say again, for me the before (the vote) is less important than the after (the vote)
    Thanks.

This Nation (whatever you think about it) signed various Treaties including The Treaty of Lisbon. That not only lays down the rules of membership but the process of leaving.

Most people have no idea quite how difficult it will be be to extricate ourselves from the EU. While in the EU we have signed international agreements which we will want to retain, all of which will need re-negotiation. There are all sorts of other issues. What rights do British people working in the EU or living in the EU or born in the EU have in future? What happens to grants from the EU funding current projects in the UK? Do we simply repeal all EU legislation whether we want it or not? Are UK issued passports valid with an EU cover?

I am not saying these are impossible to solve but that is why there is a process defined for leaving. If we did not have one and follow it the result would be chaos.

Of course there are some people who think that the day after the vote we will be outside the EU. We will not.
