Wow. As someone else said if calling a racist a racist is worth a warning while bring racist isn't I don't want to be here anyway.
Maybe it's just me but this place has gone downhill since Britain first joined?
Yeah that was me. So far nothing has happened.
He has called for EU citizens to be deported, said British homes and jobs should only be for "British people" (whatever he thinks that means) and demanded that foreigners are "stopped".
The thing that is worrying is that he and those like him really don't accept they are racists. They think their unpleasant views are some kind of home spun common sense that has been validated since the referendum.
They need putting back in their box and the mediums that carry their messages need to also be told quite clearly that these views are not acceptable.0 -
How could we have devalued it? The Swiss are having great difficulty keeping their 'safe haven' Franc down as it's value was soaring above that justified by real trading. We could have devalued the pound without ruining brand UK. Saying this is good news is idiotic.
Brexit has done it for our £ at a stroke by removing the illusion that we are somehow 'protected' by being in the EU.0 -
I'm sure due diligence was at the same high standard that we have come to expect from the EU vehicle miles per gallon ratings and vehicle toxic emmissions.
Always remember that standards and regulations have always been there to help the cartel and to exclude new entrants although always claimed to be there to 'protect' the stupid consumer from themselves. Of course many are useful and even essential but the general rules still applies.
this is nonsense. it makes perfect sense for governments to do cost benefit analysis on behalf of its population.
a company fiddling the figures for emissions is no reason to abandon cost benefit analysis.
what world do you think is better for you. no regulations on car emissions or regulations based on cost benefit analysis?
the same applies for everything from fridges to hoovers to light bulbs. to take this further the USA has the department of energy which does the same sort of thing. Also an independent uk that had never joined the EU would in all likeliness also have uk regulators doing cost benefit analysis and setting regulations and rules base on the outcome. to cry that its a bad thing is wholly stupid. At best you can try to make an argument that they get the cost benefit analysis wrong eg they underestimate the cost and over estimate the benefit but thats not what your trying to say0 -
Dunno why we need economists when we have Rightmove!0

I couldn't tell you if house prices have changed for my search category.. only that supply has definitely dried up. Not a single 3-bed house has come on the market in my search area since Brexit. Before that houses were coming up maybe 1 or 2 a week and going just as fast. Still early days though, but I'm sticking with our purchase as our first home is as much about our own space and freedom as it is about investment.0

Now China keen to start trade deal negotiations.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/07/06/chinese-and-british-officials-flirt-with-possibility-of-an-early/Chinese officials are open to launching trade negotiations with Britain in the aftermath of the Brexit vote, raising hopes that the UK’s economy can receive a boost after it leaves the EU.
Critics of Brexit warned that the UK could find itself alone and cut off from the world economy outside the EU, but the indications from China are that deals are possible.
Xing Houyuan, an official in the state-backed Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, told government mouthpiece the China Daily that China is being frustrated by the EU.
At the same time Commerce Ministry spokesman Shen Danyang was positive on the outlook for more investment into the UK.
“The global investment environment will be more transparent and create more chances in different fields for new investment,” Mr Shen told the government-owned publication.
“Therefore, Chinese companies' outbound direct investment will remain positive and stable.”If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

Fair play - actually posting something positive is certainly more productive than insulting each other! As much as I don't want an exit, I would rather see some positives appearing if the exit is looming.
On another subject... is there a serious disconnect between the government and actual experts currently? I was just watching what an immigration lawyer was saying about current EU nationals living in the UK (and assume this applies to UK nationals living in the EU too) - basically saying that these people cannot be expelled under international law.
The foreign secretary then says that there will be no guarantees for EU nationals at this point.
It seems like either the government is above international law or an immigration lawyer does not know anything about the laws around immigration?
Although "guarantees" could mean a number of things - it would seem wise to state officially that EU nationals will not get kicked out at the very least? To err is human, but it is against company policy.0 -
call me stupid
You're stupid.but why is saying british jobs for british people racist?
Please explain.
There's no such thing as "British jobs", jobs don't have nationalities, they're just packages of work that need to be done. Deciding whether or not someone can or can't do them based on where they were born is self evidently racist. If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -

Here is a potential positive (for me at least):
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/investment-banks-pledge-to-help-city-of-london-retain-top-status-in-wake-of-brexit-vote-a7124826.htmlIt seems like either the government is above international law or an immigration lawyer does not know anything about the laws around immigration?
To me it seems as though it is politicians doing what politicians do. Lie and talk whatever nonsense they need to do to obtain the outcome or vote they want.0
