Do you seriously think that or are you trolling?

We are not 'free from the EU' in any sense. We are still a member of the EU and will be for at least two years (if Article 50 was served tomorrow, which won't happen).

When / if we do leave the EU, our economy will remain closely tied to the EU (44% of trade currently with the EU). If we go down the EEA route (looks like the most likely option), based on other EEA states, we will be obliged to accept freedom of movement, be obliged to implement EU law and pay into the EU budget.

The thing about making our own laws is just a red herring. Can you name any law derived from EU law which affects your daily life? VAT is probably the only one, but the UK had a consumption tax before VAT. A lot of EU law has had a positive effect for the public: increasing consumer protection standards, improving employee's rights. Another huge chunk of it has no relevance at all to daily life: a huge amount of financial services regulatory law is based on EU law for example.

In areas where we sell a lot of goods and service to the EU, we will have to still comply with EU regulatory standards even after we leave the EU. To not do so would be simply create more red tape for companies (i.e. separate rules for the UK and EU, which both have to be compiled with).

    haha you are priceless.
The world is a big place, there is a lot more trade to be done outside the EU.
How did we manage before the EU?

As for laws, how about the limit on the size of the motor in a vacuum cleaner lol. That affected every household in their choice of what they can buy.

To be fair there are so many regulations that the EU imposed it would take me a lifetime to go through them all.

If you really think it's that simple - just trade with other countries - then you are certainly helping to reinforce the stereotypes about Leave voters. In which industries is there "a lot more trade to be done outside the EU"?

That law which has no meaningful impact on anyone's life.

so if the law has no impact why make it? What did it achieve except to limit a consumers choice and also limit what a manufacturer can produce and sell in the EU.

So do you think trading outside the EU is not possible?
    If so Why?

It was made for the purposes of energy efficiency, i.e. a small part of wider strategy on energy sustainability and climate change. The idea is that if hundreds of thousands of new vacuum cleaners sold throughout the EU each year use less energy, then eventually it will have a material effect on energy usage.

Obviously trading outside the EU is possible - we do around 45% of trade with the EU and 55% outside the EU.

Where I disagree with you is that you seem to assume that the reason we don't do more trade outside the EU is purely because of lack of ability to do trade agreements with non-EU countries, not also supply and demand and the competitiveness of our industries.

so our non EU trade will stay the same or perhaps rise.
Do you think the EU will no longer want our products and services?
Will they really cut off their nose to spite their face.
Supply and demand will ensure they still buy our products and services.

    why wouldn't it?

Hmmm, my brother found it impossible to sell his house north of Beverly at that sort of price. His ex-wife bought him out and he bought a 2 bed flat in Hull for < 40k.

I will never consider buying in a location will poor employment prospects.

Part of a wider energy efficiency drive. People hate being told what to do but sometimes, just sometimes, experts are correct. Do you rant about the low emissions zones that the UK imposes?

Besides, I am willing to bet that you never noticed the size of your vacuum cleaner motor until the daily mail started telling you about it.
