And the EU 'solution' to the fact that a lot of people within the EU (not just the UK) don't feel that positive to the US of E? Why move even faster towads the US of E of course....

The group think view from Stasbourg/Brussels is that there is no problem for which the solution is not more EU.

For example the UK needs to invoke section 50 now so the EU can immediately start to offer a really bad deal in case any other countries get ideas about having their own referendum. Of course the EU can't prevent the UK actually spending 6 months deciding exactly what it wants to acheive via Brexit, put together deals with other countries etc and starting to negotiate when we are ready....but they certainly don't like it.
    I think....

To be clear this is what my OH and also the Remain campaign has been on about.

There is a word that my OH uses about people that voted Leave. He is a horrible person for using the 'i word' so I won't repeat the damage that he caused. I criticise nobody for anything.

I just pray that somehow the healing can begin and that Leave voters can find the <<<<hugs>>>> that they crave without their idiocy being pointed out over and over in the hostile environment of the internet.

I too have had whole threads removed for upsetting people whose only pure and fervent wish is that foreigners are completely expelled from the entire country.

    No pasaran.

I watched a large chunk of the debate yesterday morning and would say that the view of withdrawal is not clear cut. On one hand you hand Juncker telling the assembly that he had prohibited his commissioners from opening any debate with the UK until article 50 had been triggered. However you also had countries speaking in althogether more nuanced terms. Imo from watching it you had Farage on one hand, Juncker on the other, and an awful lot of people in the middle. It is patently obvious that countries will get together behind the scenes, much as it is that Juncker has already gone against what he has said by arranging a meeting with Nicola Sturgeon.

At PMQs today David Cameron was asked several questions about the meeting. He also said that the national heads understood Britain's need to take time and get things right.

In terms of Juncker's Federalist drive, I got the impression several states feel that things need to stabilise... not move to closer union, nor to rush headlong to attract more states to join.

The Dutch Defence Minister, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, did a great speech.

In my own personal opinion something needs to happen north of the border. Give them the referendum now or politely explain that it cannot happen while we're negotiating our position with the EU. Nicola meeting with EU officials in parallel weakens the overall UK position, it's time the First Minister was put in her place, she's gone way beyond her remit now and it's affecting the rest of the UK. Also this time attach conditions to the referendum that the result is legally binding for x years so that the UK has stability moving into this period, we can't keep doing this every 2 years until the SNP gets the result it wants.

Nearly 40% of Scotland's people voted to Leave the EU - I think they'll be a bit miffed tbh when they wake up in Euroland.

So if the UK imports £100 billion of European manufactured cars the Europeans are going to still charge us £100B for them and hand the government over a £10B tarriff. They are going to charge us £110B plus more for the currency movements. So the £10B is akin to the government putting up taxes it isnt a free lunch

Or we don't buy European cars - we buy British, American, Japanese or Korean cars instead and the EU gets zilch.

Obama may seek trade deals with EU, UK at same time - Kerry
U.S. President Barack Obama may try to negotiate a bilateral trade deal with Britain and a multilateral trade pact with the European Union at the same time following the "Brexit" vote, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Tuesday.
"I think given what has happened, the president is going to try to do both at the same time. He knows how to multitask," Kerry said at a conference in Aspen, Colorado, when asked about Obama's April comment that the United States would focus on a wider trade deal with the EU and Britain would go to the "back of the queue" if it voted to leave the EU as it did on Thursday.

well I hope its that simple but I suspect not. For a start the uk is a big importer of cars its difficult to see how we could very quickly change the suppliers. For example lets pretend we import 2 million German cars a year (we dont but pretend) and we are now going to import 2 million Korean cars instead. Does korea have the capacity to increase car production by 2 million units in say 1 years time? doubtful. Also if the EU is making a million less cars for us and earning £20B less from that, it means our biggest customer now has £20B less to buy goods from the uk

there is a world wide glut of car making capacity
and anyway it wouldn't be urgent as every one could just keep their cars a little longer
and it would greatly help our balance of trade position
and it would encourage greater home manufacturing which helps rebalance the economy and creates jobs.

it seems worth leaving the EU simply for those advantages
