Clapton has acknowledged above that without immigration we will all have to work longer to pay enough tax to fund the non working population.

Personally I'd prefer not to do that and welcome population growth through immigration

He clearly has a very blinkered view of the world and is only able to see a limited range of issues and lacks the capacity to think bigger than his own little bubble.

    IMO

just to be fair minded I will repost what I actually wrote

I would suggest my post had a wider scope and wareness of the world issues, which suggested looking at the consequences of the ever increasing population model of the world.

are you proposing the only hope for the world is exponential population growth ?

or are you proposing a neocolonial exploitation of the poorer nations?

At the current time the figures don't support the need for mass immigration
if, in 20 / 30 years time we have a problem then I agree with the neocolonial solution

but before then I expect improvement in productivity of goods and services, later retirement age, better health etc to sustain an excellent life for the peoples of the UK.

Another taken in by the "personalties" put up by the state.
You have to hand it to them, this con trick is working and it is drawing people away from the issue as they play vote for your favourite / least favourite politician.

Sorry Marktheshatk, completely baffled by your comment on my post. Perhaps you meant to comment on another posting?
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Betfair currently has it about 70%/30% in favour of remain, I think that is more reliable than a poll, but I do think that it will be a lot closer than that. I've already voted by post to remain.

Chuck, you are forgetting that currency traders are using this as a hedge. A bookmaker only balances his "book" with a small win for the house. Those odds reflect a lot of heavy money hedging the currency bet available in the market.
    Nothing happens in isolation nowadays.

The "big" bookmakers might even be playing in the currency market as a way of hedging the money coming for remain. Who knows.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

I will be sending my postal vote for Remain off this weekend as well, as am off on holiday soon.

At this stage though I would make a Brexit vote the most likely outcome, in the absence of any last minute surprises, and I've backed that with a few bets on the outcome as well, it just looks far too attractively priced, but no doubt the markets have a reason for it.

Will we want free movement of people between Australia, New Zealand, Canada and India. Would it be in our interests to press for that to be in the trade agreement?

It's an interesting point, as while I don't think free movement is on the table for one moment, it appears that a country like India would like improved access for Indian citizens to the UK as part of a trade deal, that has certainly been a stumbling block in negotiations with the EU from what I have read.

If we do vote for Brexit, it will be very interesting to see what direction future trade deals with both EU and non-EU countries go, will trade and the economy be the priority, or will slashing immigration drive decision, because there will certainly be times when those come into conflict.

I think most of the Conservatives in the Brexit camp would prioritise trade deals if it were up to them, but its a difficult balance to strike given that they know full well if they win then immigration will be the issue which won the vote for them.

Not the best point at which to start a debate.
Quite frankly if you don't care. Why should anyone else?

    As for football fans singing?
It is very rare that the hand of friendship is offered for long in soccer.
Try listening to celtic and rangers fans
Or the English v Scotland games.
The right of people to chant at their rivals may not always be palatable.. But really should not be seen as offering some wonderful or meaningful insight into the psychi of certain sections within the population

Why would anyone want to debate whether the boorish behaviour of English "fans" in Marseilles is a good or bad thing? Surely it is just bad, no ifs, no buts, no excuses, not defendable.

No, but you have said you have a racist dislike of the English
and repeatedly use the term 'little englanders' which is offensive, racist and stereotyping people.
You openly admit that your support (and have met personally) the labour party leadership who support the IRA, believe that killing 45 million people in the name of socialism is justified and also think the oppression of the people of Venuzuela shows 'a different path'.

I don't attack you at all : I simply mention things that you have said about yourself: you are entirely free to change your mind and withdraw your support from racism and your support for these unpleasant people who walk in the same shoes as murdering scum.
Where have I said I had a racist dislike of the English

I've challenged you many times to repost any post of mine, you think is inappopriate, but you have never been able to find single one.

Enjoy the football tournament : I'm sure your will be supporting all the home nations.

You repeatedly accuse me of being a 'terrorist sympathiser' and of being a 'racist'. You stalk me on theses forums and make these accusations time and time again no matter what the subject is at hand. That is simply trolling and I find that highly inappropriate. I have met Jeremy Corbyn and so have thousands of other people. I find him a dignified, humanistic person who is nothing like how you characterise him. I do not have a racist dislike of the English; my wife is English; I was describing xenophobic attitudes present by some in English society. Many people say similar things. If you think that is racist. You clearly don't know the meaning of the term.

You in my opinion are a sad bigot who hides more generalised racist attitudes behind a thin veneer of manufactured concern about immigration and its consequences. You are obsessive about the subject and as I said I see through these 'dog whistle' prejudices of yours. I think we are pretty straight now about how we see each other;) By the way both I and my wife will be supporting Wales today, (although we will probably lose). I will also be supporting England but my wife wont be, although she is English she can't support the team because she hates the little Englander scum that follow them and spoil everything for everyone else. No matter what I say mate she won't change her mind you know. Do you think I should stalk her and brow beat her until she changes her mind?;)

Generali assures us that Aus has a totally free immigrant access policy so if you want to go, just do it: but do remember you will be leaving a superstate of 500 million for a small insecure little place of only 27 million and so will be massively poorer.

Aus is neither insecure or poor.

My "personal" gut feeling of what I think will happen if we had BREXIT:

    - No War World 3 / Armageddon
    - Slight slow down of the UK economy
    - Initial impact of FTSE slump in the short-term, but overall rise in the long-term.
    Save Save Save
    :)

it was you who said you disliked the english : I accept that it wasn't intended.
'little englander' is a racist, sterotyping phrase that is inappropriate

You KNOW that Corbyn / McDonnell/Abbot /Livingstone have been long term IRA supporters: you KNOW that that they consider the huge number of deaths in Soviet Union and China were worthwhile given the achievements.
You CHOOSE to support these people. It is totally fair to say you support these people. In fact you describe Corbyn as
a dignified, humanistic person who is nothing like how you characterise him
    .

OK you are in denial about his beliefs but if you choose to post about politics it is totally fair to point put what his true beliefs are.
It is also appropriate to describe you as a fellow traveller.
