Just to wade in with my thoughts, I'm in the undecided camp leaning towards leave having always been remain. I've shifted in the last few weeks based on the Remain campaign, which has totally disappointed me with project fear. I'm just not interested in hearing the 'danger!' argument from either side, as my opinion is that on the whole the UK is a tough little nation that will get on and make do regardless of situation. So what I want to hear is the positive side, and the growth strategy. What opportunities are coming up from staying in the EU?
I should add I'm a 30yr old female employed in the defence industry. I am going to vote (I always do) but I'm not deciding until I've fully read up and debated.0 -

The result would have no credibility unless the unionist side of the debate engaged with it, which they almost certainly would not.
If the Scottish electorate see it as valid, that'll be enough. The legalities wouldn't kick in until after a referendum was held. If there was a clear Yes vote, then in practice Westminster could do very little else but to recognise it. What else could they do ? Anyway, if Westminster are so sure there won't be a Yes vote they'll have nothing to fear from it. It's the fact that they reckon it will be a Yes vote there's all this talk of not being able to hold one. Referendums/referenda are a fact of UK/Scottish democracy otherwise this thread wouldn't exist.
If there's no Brexit any future referendum won't happen for a good few years yet and that's the most likely scenario at the moment. If there IS a Brexit a Scottish vote will probably be called very quickly. Westminster will have other worries, as will the Conservative party who will be replacing their leader. Possibly with one who'd be quite happy to 'see the Jocks' go. ( Johnson ).
I've already said many times elsewhere that personally I wouldn't like to see another Scottish referendum coming straight off the back of a Brexit, so I won't expand on that here again. But make no mistake in thinking that a Scottish Govt, voted in by a majority of the Scottish electorate, with a clear mandate from the Scottish electorate to hold a referendum should the status quo change or circumstances dictate... won't go ahead with one just because Westminster might not like the result.
However, let's not hijack this topic any further when there's already a Scottish thread anyway. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

After 56/57 pages we still continue to argue amongs ourselves. Where is the political leadership either way. Am I missing something have I missed a major speech from The Prime Minister to stay in or from Boris to leave. Where is the voice of our leaders? The voice of those who will lead us after the referendum. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0

40 years that brought us unrivalled prosperity and stability.
The freedom to work and study visa-free within 27 countries. The freedom to trade tariff-free with 600 million buyers and sellers.
That's enough for me for a positive and confident vote to remain. :TDon't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

indeed true
we can add of course -
-the opportunity for the young people never to be able to live in a decent family sized property (London &SE)
-to continue to have depressed wages due to the flood of young immigrants
-to enjoy a low productifvity economy for the foreseeable future
-to pay higher taxes or more accept cuts to fund the huge costs of rebuilding the necessary infrastructure to cope with the population increase.
-to stoically accept the increased delays on transport
-similarly to accept the decline in access to the NHS
-and of course to continue to watch the sad situation in the sourthern europeans states but console ourselves it will have no affect on us.0 -

Well, our prosperity is rivaled and indeed surpassed by many countries not in the EU.
It says a lot about the EU free trade area when we sell more stuff to countries with tariffs. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0
