To be fair to Cameron (and I'm not a fan) the alignment of Turkish politics to that of the UK or collective EU is a different ball game today compared to 2010.

May be not the best moment to say this, but unlimited migration from Middle East does let in lots of terrorists. So I think UKIP is quite right in saying so. While it helps UK not being in Schengen, but terrorists can fake EU passport easily and get in to UK.

There isn't unlimited migration from the MENA region. Brexit does not impact in any way on the UK's treaty obligations towards refugees.

Turkey wont be admitted into the free movement part of the EU maybe ever but certainly not until their average income exceeds the average EU income which will take a long time if ever to happen.

If the world does form into trading blocks its probably better for Europe for turkey to be in the EU block than for it to be in a Arab block.

The UK was historically and maybe in the future pro Turkey getting into the EU because they are seen as generally voting on the UK side on marginal issues rather than the French side. The french on the other hand definitely dont want turkish MEPs for the same reason the UK does

I currently live in Turkey. I don't know anyone here at all who is expecting Turkey to get the full free movement EU deal.

In all honesty, I've only come across that belief from (some) Brexit campaigners and the Daily Mail!

I have posted many times about the plight of the peoples of the southern european countries with their depressed economies and very high (particularly young) unemployment
and the need to abandon the euro
and the need to take positive measure to help their economies.

sadly, few, if any of the 'stay' group will engage in dialogue about such matters as they don't fit the official narrative.

I'm surprised you don't know that the UK has more trade with the non - EU countries that within the EU : and the trend is more worldwide trade too.

Its funny that no-one who runs these economies agrees with you. Turkey for instance has been desperately trying to get in the EU for years.

What is going on with this?

Over-hyped by UK media (would not be surprising)?

It's strange how you have great faith in the ruling class in all countries except the UK : how does this work?
well, even here, if the matter is about the EU you seem to have unlimited faith and support for the ruling class ; welcome on board.

    That's a very interesting link.

I understand Turkey would like a closer partnership with the EU (closer than the current status it already holds, I mean)...but there are several alternatives to the all singing and dancing free movement deal. I have the impression that it's the free movement aspect which is being focused on by team brexit without much merit imho. Hasn't Cyprus already vetoed Turkey for full membership anyway? Hasn't Turkey just been told last week that discussions regarding full membership are not happening, just selected aspects?

The food here is great, by the way.
