    His timing is pants though.

Maybe he just lacks awareness of how his public comments are received?

I don't think he cares about the timing, the political calculation the Germans and its lackeys in the EU commission have made is that it plays well with the EU 27 and its people and lest we forget also that Juncker dines out on his battles with the British in the past, he likes this stuff!
So far at least, May seems to have his and the Germans measure.

For a statesman. Appears no better than Trump. With a mouth that he cannot keep shut. Sooner or later he'll trip up and fall inside his own mouth. No reason to think that he speaks for the whole of the EU either.

It's just silliness on both sides. I can imagine May's comments about Juncker finding out she's a 'bloody difficult woman' might be peddled by the European media.

    A bit of a troll?

The status of English as the lingua-franca of business will remain and therefore remain as important as it ever was in the EU.

Only Spanish comes close, largely in under developed countries with poor economies. English use in business will continue to dominate and propagate in most areas of life due to this.

You were right and should have left it at Junker was just having a troll. What a lovely person.

60m English speakers are about to leave the EU therefore the influence of English speakers in the EU will be less. It was meant as a wry dig but it's true.

We've spent ages on here trying to systematically assess the size of the Brexit task ahead; the number of man hours; etc.

Let's be honest. It's becoming clear that none of this matters.

The whole thing is a game of brinkmanship.

There will be all this threat and counter threat from both sides until the 11th hour, at which point they will charge us for some kind of moderated access. Our politicians will spin it as a win, and so will the Germans etc.

Outside politics, the businesses involved on both sides already have mature trading relationships. It's not like setting up relationships from scratch.

The EU must be used to this. How many last minute deals have been done to brink Greece back from the brink of financial collapse? Even with Europe's Eastern border they have Erdogan using threats to buy concessions from the EU.

I know. We can write the script now.

If agreements were completed before the 11th hour we wouldn't be able to marvel at our intrepid politicians working through the night.

Then in the morning the same politicians will be telling us how they got a fantastic deal for their side.

I will likely get another red card or ban soon. I wanted to point out my last red card was for using the L word, as in a descriptor related to the moon. Not aimed at a poster but used in a generic sense as in "lefty l***s'

It's ok apparantly to constantly label conservatives as nasty kickers of the disabled, as racists and worst, but use a mild gentle term about left wingers and it's curtains.

A real shame someone is seeing fit to ban free and gentle speech

Just like it as apparently okay to use a descriptive like "Nazi" towards those pro-Brexit but describe a blatant propagandist as Lord whoever and that is a no-no.

The only consolation is .................. you KNOW they have nothing of real substance to debate with when reporting/banning becomes an option of choice.

    P.S. "Konrad" with a "K", I'm sure I have seen him about?
I for one will not be silenced just because of such actions as those described above.

Some of you guys need to get over yourselves.

If you have an issue with the moderation you ought to take it up with the site owner and if you get no joy leave.

You can't be much more silent than posting anonymously on an internet forum which is password protected and not visible to google. Therefore I wouldn't worry about the traitorous Lord Haw Haw* contaminating too many minds with his blatant propaganda after you've gone.

    * aka someone with a different viewpoint in this case
