The Lib Dems got to make some policy, even if it was bad policy. Who knew?

It was a coalition. Compromise is necessary. You have to give the other side something. Particularly if there is a reason why you really want to do the deal. Like being PM.:)

Le Pen will never win a run off in a country where Granny remembers what it was like to be ruled by fascists.

To win she'll need to get it over with in the first round or come bloody close. There aren't many latent fascist voters hanging about Europe that might decide to come through second time around.

Do you support Mme. Le Pen out of interest? Your posts kinda imply that you do without being explicit. I think she's a disgrace to France and her supporters are traitors FWIW.

It does seem like PM May is going to face a binary choice.

So-called hard Brexit or an expensive deal to remain in the EU club in a fudged capacity.

Either option is going to upset a segment of the UK voterbase. If you neuter UKIP in the GE then you can afford to upset their potential supporters in the regions can't you?

Nah, there isn't going to be a choice. It's going to be car crash Brexit, or Steve as I lik to call it around Jock. The E27 countries have no chance of making an agreement with the UK.

The only decision is going to be do you want to let the EU screw you over or will you cut off your nose to spite your face. Supply chains are boring but they will really make a mess of your economy. Shame Brexit voters CBA to understand what they were voting for really. Oh well, too late now.

I don't know, all these things that are going to make a mess of the economy. Inflation, interest rates, zero immigration, low GBP, consumer debt, banker exodus, loss of passporting, exit fees, Donald !!!!!!! trump, world war three and now supply chains.
Even the good news is actually just bad news in disguise.

Do you really honestly think Remain voters understood this any more then Leave voters?

    Of course they didn't.

Back in the day we seemed to manage okay with a Bill Of Materials with over 3 million parts and lead times on components running to 6 weeks+. I don't recall the EU helping out much. :)

I heard on R4 over the weekend that the triple lock, rather than being meticulously researched, was made up on the hoof by Cameron and his gang at a time that they had a gap in the agenda and wanted something new to announce.

Thought that the Triple Lock was a Lib Dem manifesto pledge in the 2010 election.

Is it any wonder that they face a binary choice in the light of the approach that has been adopted?
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

Here is an overview of Brexit so far from the Independent newspaper

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/brexit-economy-sterling-currency-investment-cost-impact-business-financial-banks-insurance-retail-a7695486.html

Yes BB, Yes it's a newspaper, yes a Journalist wrote it and yes he/she probably spoke to experts.
Two of the three journalists credited have foreign sounding names.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

    This from Bloomberg

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-04-24/euro-area-s-budding-recovery-might-have-what-it-takes-to-blossom

"It’s looking good for the euro area right now and there’s every chance that’s how it will stay."

Of course the usual caveats BB.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.
