It's telling that the least educated part of he electorate voted to leave. Every living prime minister has expressed serious misgivings as well as the current and last chancellor. The CBI. The banks. Never has the message been so clear.

Politics is about getting your argument across to all sectors of the electorate though.

It was clear that in an open vote referendum like Brexit, you could not afford to ignore the less educated voters.

Team Remain failed to convince these people. There are 2 possible reasons for this :-

    a) they didn't engage with them properly, and failed to understand local issues
    or
    b) they couldn't offer these people something attractive to vote for.

If it is b) then we have a real problem, because they will prove easy fodder for right wing political groups.

... or they were lied to, ruthlessly.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

    Everybody was lied to ruthlessly.

Fortunately many saw through at least some of the lies and weren't so concerned purely for selfish reasons as it appears the prosperous wealthy section of UK society were.

Interestingly it seems that a majority of the UK's South Asian community voted leave.

  • I just love how people claim to know how other countries around the world view Brexit........... To those who claim that Canada,Australia and New Zealand think we are mad to leave the EU , feel free to post some links to back up your claim..............

I have good friends in Germany,Belgium ,South Africa and Amercians living in the UK since the 1970's who think we are doing the right thing and leading the way.But I wouldn't be so arrogant as to claim I know how whole nations think.

While this is a nice simple line, taken to its conclusion the only parts of the UK with a majority of "most educated electorate" would be Scotland, NI and London.

    And that I don't believe.

Find me a living British prime minister, past or present that hasn't expressed serious misgivings about Brexit.

I read an amusing article the other day suggesting that Scotland should join Canada, and then Canada could apply to join the EU. Crazy idea it could it work?

If Canada could afford to keep them. The queen also might not sign off the law.

I live in Australia, the general opinion here is either apathy, or "best of luck". there is no strong "UK is mad" feeling here, believe me
