Not sure how I need to get on with delivering what has been promised to the British people by the Brexiteers.
    Please elaborate.

Sorry I should have clarified, I meant people who actually have a role to play in the future development of this country.

EU looks at revealing negotiating positions for Brexit
Brussels is considering publishing its main negotiating positions in Brexit talks, adopting a policy of full transparency that may wrongfoot the more secretive British side.

As the UK prepares to activate the Article 50 divorce clause this Wednesday, Michel Barnier, the EU’s chief negotiator, is advocating an “open” style similar to the bloc’s conduct in US-EU trade negotiations. In those talks the European Commission mandate and position papers were made public.

A final decision has yet to be taken and EU officials stress the issue will need to be discussed with member states. However senior figures preparing the Brexit talks are convinced it is a necessary step that will bolster the union’s negotiating hand.

With 27 parties to be considered. Seems a pragmatic approach.

Given the EU haven't published anything as yet either. Why is the UK being secretive. Journalism is very limited in it's thinking these days. Discussions will start soon enough.

You don't count inviting asylum seekers to Germany then?

What she should have done was shown compassion and humanity for the refugees, and that was exactly what she did.

It's caused her nowhere near enough damage to knock her out of place and probably won her some new votes, so it was a well weighted decision IMO.

The reward Germany will get over the next 20-30 years is much higher than the cost now.

What she did was selfish (as a policy), undemocratic in terms of the unity of the EU and potentially damaging longer term (as migrants will bring their own culture and ideology). The tide of migrants isn't going to stop. As all they can see is economic benefit. The West has to help the people build lives in their homelands.

I suppose adopting an open book also means airing your dirty washing in public?

We might find out who really pulls the strings in the EU27, and when push comes to shove, who really commands the clout.

For anyone interested, here is the Rome Declaration from last week.

    Utterly delusional.

Sounds more like a message to each EU country to me.

A possible reaction to the UK going off and speaking to individual countries instead of through he EU.

The reward over the next 20-30 years? What's that then?

Censorship ("hate speech", i.e. not the "correct" opinion)?

    A bloated welfare state?

    Higher crime?

If you don't believe me look at the statistics for 2nd and 3rd generation Moroccans who live in the Netherlands and their per-capita crime statistics. I think Pew Research has the data.

Edit: To clarify. Immigration can be hugely successful for the host nation and the migrants if done correctly.

For me primarily language barriers must be overcome, if that means there's a test to make sure you can speak the language before you come, thumbs up. You're unlikely to get a job and settle properly if you're unable to converse with the other inhabitants. If you can only converse with your own small community that is what it will remain, a migrant enclave, a welfare ghetto. That breeds frustration and disillusionment which I'm sure everyone is aware leads to criminal activity to make your living.
