So you're happy to be on the side of the elite - not standing shoulder to shoulder with the working classes?

Brother - if you are on the side of the elites against the poor you are on the wrong side.

Yes. Because working class people are thick.

Yes because working class people are thick and we the Liberal Elite, aka Moby types, know so much better.

When I read forums posters generally seem to be of the opinion that trading under WTO rules simply means a 10% import tax being applied to UK exports. It ain't so, leaving the single market means a huge number of barriers for trade that can be erected from tariffs of varying levels on goods to an outright import ban on some services.

In addition, it may shock some posters to hear that countries don't always follow international trade rules

It amazes me that people still seem to have this view that privately educated multimillionaire Nigel Farage is in it for the downtrodden working classes. Boris Johnson hardly voted with his heart and neither did Michael Gove.

One of the reasons that I voted to remain was because I have concerns that once we are outside of the EU the Tories (for they are very likely to be in power for a long time) will have the power to erode workers rights. Maybe they will or maybe they won't actually do it but I would have rather that they didn't have the choice.

I think you are mistaking me. I'm not labelling anyone as 'thick' as you put it. You are doing the labelling by your accusations of an 'elite'. You are just repeating a common meme. I'm pointing to what the research says which came out a few days ago. Your characterisation of me and my views is an ignorant 'straw man' distraction. In actual fact I've fought against 'elites' all my life. I just don't equate having an education with being elitist. That type of meme is similar to the classroom bully calling out a class mate as a 'swot' to put them down and so that they can feel better about their own stupidity.

    It is very simple.
Brexiteers - Citizens Who voted in the referendum to leave the EU.
Remainers- Citizens who voted in the referendum to remain in the EU.

Silly Billy - someone who uses a term other than above.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

    Corrected the above for you.

Is 'Brexiteer' insulting then? To my view it describes someone who is very intent on Brexit. I don't see how it can possibly have any negative connotations but being as you've informed me that it is an insult then I shall try my best to stop using it.

Just out of interest I would be keen to learn what you feel is so insulting about the word. It very clear why 'remoaner' would cause offence but not 'brexiteer'.
Read again my post #16500 in this thread, paying particular attention to the highlighted wording.
Which is (just to remind you):
"new coinages that use -eer in lieu of -er may be an attempt to imply a negative judgment about what is being described. In this case a brexiteer is not merely "one who brexits" but also implies that the coiner of the word considers brexiting to be undesirable."

  • Blimey so many people banned on this board now - is that any left to contribute?

    Sad times.

Whilst you may be quite correct, tell us what this has to do with this thread please?

This is the first that I've heard of brexiteer being deemed insulting but being as you (and possibly others, who knows?) apparently find it offensive I have, as you may note, stopped using the term.

It is well documented by many people that remoaner is deeply offensive but it continues to be used regularly by leavers. I can only deduce that those using the term intend to offend but perhaps you have an alternative view that you might like to share.
