I for one won't miss Ruggedtoast. BUT the IGNORE button is everyone's friend....and will stop you getting PPRed. I've been on MSE for nearly 10 years and have encountered many trolls along the way..

As soon as I see posts boomer bashing or talking about white christian countries, it signals to me that it's a post not worth the effort of reading. Sl*gging off is not debating, it is ranting. As a result, there are an awful lot of posts that I don't read from either poster. However they both can make good points, when they are not busy ranting. Not that often in at least one case, granted, but I have seen them make a good point before, honest...

    Great link.

It would certainly be chaotic to try to move trading locations for FX and interest rate derivatives as typically when you put on a new hedge you net out the old position, just paying whatever profit or loss is crystalised on the contract, and you open up a new position for a few months or a year into the future. Chaotic isn't the same thing as impossible of course.

Closing out a position with one branch and opening a new one is more problematic because the client will have to find double margin (partial collateral held by the bank in case the client defaults) for a few days as they wait for the old contract to be paid out/pay off the loss on the old contract and put up fresh margin at the new bank.

It's a bit simpler with FX as in the FX markets there is something called multi-party netting so when FX trades settle, all banks in the system net their positions against each other and small amounts of money actually change hands. If Britain was to be locked out of the Euro settlement system that may, or may not, impact on the multi-party netting system.

My post is highly simplified. In reality this operational stuff is highly legalistic and complex. The ECB would probably find it pretty hard to unwind without taking on undue risk. However it may be that there are already plans in place for someone leaving the Euro settlement area **coughs**Greece**coughs** that could be altered to deal with Brexit.

I'd disagree with respecting opinions how I would define respectable opinion. Tolerate others opinions as a believer in freedom of speech and thought. Everyone should have those rights and the rights ought to be respected. But not the opinions, for me that is a clear and distinct difference. For example I will never respect the opinion that all leave voters are uneducated idiots. But I will forever defend the rights of those people to be able to think that even if it is ridiculous.

    (1) The statement above is your opinion of what was reported in a link as being the results of a statistical analysis of real ward level data by the BBC.

    (2) The interpretation you place on it above is a misinterpretation
All it says is that "Wards where the population had fewer qualifications tended to have a higher Leave vote". It calls nobody an I***t.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

I guess you didn't see the post I was on about, you've got the wrong end of the stick I'm afraid.

Sorry but could you point out where it says we will be the 10th biggest economy??

You see what i read is that we will remain inside the top 10....

Another remoaner only seeing doom and gloom....

Calling people remoaner because you disagree with them is insulting. But if you insist on doing this at least you should try to understand the facts. THis time read the rest of the sentence.
They see the UK economy remaining in the top 10, slipping down one spot from ninth place now to 10th in purchasing power parity (PPP) terms, .....

What the other quote said was.....:
Measured by purchasing power parity, the U.K. will fall only one place to 10th among its peers by 2050........

    before adding......
.........so long as it keeps its labor market open to skilled overseas workers and develops trade links with fast-growing emerging markets, the analysis shows. PwC, which released its report on Tuesday in London, didn’t say how that outlook would differ without those policies.

As I understand it the telecoms were acting like a cartel.

In the Western world we should expect any Government to act against cartels and price fixing. So it was not in anyone's manifesto but is one of those unwritten things in any Democracy.

No one seems bothered about addressing the issues of the CAP though..... Probably because it's a vote loser for any national political party that does. Kettle black springs to mind.

Calling people remoaners is insulting and childish. We should all grow up.

Epithets such as you describe were merely coined to counter similar derogatory terms used to describe your average leave voter.
We should indeed all grow up, but you started it! :)
