If we vote for Brexit what happens

The Remain message is also quite boring as it's mainly based on the benefits of free trade. This doesn't resonate much with Angry Little Englanders who are more open to one-liners like 'we're sending 350 million a week to Brussels!' (which is a plain lie by the way) and incessant migrant bashing.
You could probably class my cousin as one of those A.L.E's then. His facebook is full of a curious mixture of ex-army; mild nationalism; and deep scepticism of the European project.
You get simple story lines like "the EU is destroying our hairdressing salons", by imposing power limits on dryers. There's always a simple picture to support the message.
I'm not a facebook stalwart, but I do wonder how much effect it will achieve in the heartlands of the country.0 -
Those investing in the UK to develop their UK market will not care, but those seeking a EU base will chose the EU over the offshore nation outside of the EU. Firms based here who sell mostly to the UK will not care but those who are here because we are in the EU will take that into account in their forward plans. It will not happen overnight but it will happen unless we have more to offer.
Boris Johnson’s comments admitting there will be job losses if we leave the EU and likening the effects on the economy to a Nike tick are very telling. The Brexiters know exactly what they are putting at risk.
PS I though is performance on Marr was very poor.0 -
What job loses are these?
The job losses that even Boris will admit to.
Boris wants to cut our ties with the world’s largest single market and the bottom of his “Nike tick” – the image he deployed to illustrate his economic projection - means the dole for many.
But you bury your head in the sand if you like.0 -

As I said before I don't think he really wants to see Brexit but sees taking the leave side as being his stepping stone to the party leadership and hence PM, I don't think a remain win would damage his prospects at all whereas standing on the in platform would have left the way open for another 'outer' to take one half of the tory MP votes leaving him scrapping with May and Osborne for the other half.I think....0 -

I thought his performance was so poor on Marr that I have started questioning whether he actually has what it takes to be PM - so I think it is damaging tbh.0 -

Except that we are not in a situation where the number of jobs and the population are flat, both are increasing. Are you certain that with Brexit any reduction in job creation might not be offset by the reduction in new arrivals?
And even if there were increased unemployment, perhaps others would disagree with you over whether that might be a price worth paying for restoring democratic control?I think....0 -

I always wonder what the brexiteers mean with that supposed ‘democracy deficit’ in the EU.
The European Parliament is democratically elected.
The European Council consists of all (democratically elected) heads of state.
The European Commission consist of 1 individual per member state dispatched by the democratically elected national government of the moment.
The president and its members are appointed by the European Council (democratically elected) and approved by The European Parliament (democratically elected).Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

And should the EU bring in laws that the majority of the British people did not support (for example continuing to run a budget that the auditors refuse to sign off due to corruption, insisting on agricultural tariffs to protect French farmers that add 15% to the average UK food bill) but that the majority of the EU did, would my vote in any of those EU elections make the slightest difference?I think....0 -

since you don't care about democracy in the UK, why are you concerned about faux strawmen in the EU?0
