I am absolutely delighted that the 'Brextremist' Zac is out on his ear, humiliated by losing a 20,000+ vote majority to a political novice.

    It's been a good week. :)

I am happy to share your delight in Zak's defeat through the ballot box

    It's been a good week. :)

It's been a good week indeed.
Boris Johnson telling us he's all for freedom of movement, David Davis' mutterings on paying the EU to have single market access and now Zac the Bigot reduced to utter irrelevance.
Have a good weekend all! :)
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

It's good to see that the EU tradition of political manoeuvring over protecting the citizens is still going strong.

I am very happy that the EU wants to protect its citizens.

And perhaps by then a few more wheels of the EU gravy train will have fallen off.:)

!!!!ing hate Bob Geldof especially as 1) He's Irish and 2) He lives in Paris.

Lovely. Showing your true colours there.

Just to say, that's a remarkably a silly comment. It struck me, too, that as an Irishman who doesn't live in my constituency let alone in Britain, millionaire baby boomer Geldof had no business getting himself involved in an English local by-election, which was for the constituents to decide. Neither was it the business of all the crowds of LD 'helpers' from outside the constituency drafted in by the LD, who were swarming all over the place accosting people and thrusting their paper-wasting flyers twice a day or more through people's letterboxes. An unneeded pestilence and nuisance.

Me too. See my location in my profile.

That said, I don't have the slightest concern that I will be able to remain where I am for as long as I wish. The possibility that people will be forcibly repatriated (which the GERMAN chancellor of all people implied yesterday) is zero.

I agree cogito, I have said it many times. However as Donal Rumsfeld said "we know what we know, we know what we don't know, but we don't know what we don't know."
Who knows what problems we may encounter. Travelling outside the Schengan zone, say to Britain, might be easy but will returning home to Luxembourg or Greece be so easy? What if none EU Nationals were excluded from your Greek or Luxembourg Social security system?
We all need a little luck don't we.

An despite of all these thinks that you as a local resident dislike, the LibDem pro Remain candidate Sarah Olney won! (and I am celebrating).

Were you equally dismayed by Jacob Rees-Mogg campaigning alongside Zac the bigot? Isn't his constituency in Somerset or thereabouts?

My MEP has exactly as much say as any other MEP and is involved in change.

What change do you expect to get out of the EU if:
    1. You have someone like Farage failing to attend or pay attention?
    2. You take your ball and go home.

You're complaining about not having your say in the EU when we're electing people that aren't passing it on, and advocating having no say at all. And as said, it's exactly the same as in the UK.

    Agreed.
I have heard, rumour or is it true.
Farage was on the Fisheries committee ( you know that committee that sorted out fishing quotas) and only ATTENDED ONE meeting.
Is that true. I hope that one of the many Farage supporters on this thread will tell me the truth.
    Thanks.

Nobody has done more than Zach to oppose Heathrow expansion - I'm sad to see him treated this way. And I doubt Sarah Olney will be as effective. West London has lost a champion today. I hope he boots her out in 2020.

Agree completely. I actually thought he (yes I know he is a politician) had principles.
