Surely they should be focused on a speedy departure from the EU and getting that process started at the end of March 2017 and not allowing any slippage in the time frame.

Article 127 anyone ? More delays ahead ?
Brexit: Legal battle over UK's single market membership

The government is facing a legal battle over whether the UK stays inside the single market after it has left the EU, the BBC has learned.
Lawyers say uncertainty over the UK's European Economic Area membership means ministers could be stopped from taking Britain out of the single market.
They will argue the UK will not leave the EEA automatically when it leaves the EU and Parliament should decide.

It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Notice how Brexiteers have a positive view of Europeans in terms of us expecting them to want a positive non-destructive trading relationship, where-as Remainers have a negative view, saying the Europeans will be harsh and with punishments in mind

Lets stay in then, and we'll give the UK a Trump.

No, we would leave the EU but remain in the EEA until Art.127 is triggered, if ever.
Not as advantageous as full EU membership obviously, but definitely the next best thing. :)
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Practicality and common sense will win over, from politics and posturing.

Black and white thinking, it tends to happen when we are feeling angry or emotional about something.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

yes, the anti democratic, reactionary establishment forces are certainly building a new consortium of obstruction and disinformation.
At the end of the day, the political, legal, university and business elite in the UK, have more in common with their opposite numbers in europe than they do with the ordinary people of the UK.

    Here's food for thought :

Any EU fanatics here able to tell me why the Euro or EU is not toast in the long run?

How much has the Greek economy contracted and when will it stop?

What's to stop the same thing happening to Portugal; Ireland; even Italy and Spain?

As has been pointed out when youth unemployment is high, your talented young have no other option but to go and seek employment elsewhere.

Why wouldn't the EU fracture along broadly North/South lines?

I see leaving the EU as damage limitation personally, because if it does go pear shaped it would cost us dearly. We would be expected to bail the zone out.
Investor Who Backed Brexit Sees Euro Breaking Up Within 5 Years
“Brexit is going to be a sideshow to the problems of Europe that are becoming more and more evident,” Mellon said. “The euro as it stands at the moment is just a very inappropriate mechanism -- I give the euro between one and five years of life.”
